IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              MAGGIE PETTUS

The EHS student of the month for November is Maggie Pettus.  Maggie is a senior at EHS who not only excels academically, but also has a very creative side too.  Maggie has worked extremely hard over the past four years and is an excellent student as depicted on her transcript and resume.  Each year, Maggie has chosen a steady core of challenging courses and worked diligently.  By the time Maggie graduates, she will have completed 3 AP courses and 8 dual credit classes, resulting in over 24 college credit hours.  In addition, Maggie is identified as gifted and talented in visual arts, is a member of the Art Portfolio class, and the Art Club.  She enjoys working part-time at JOANNE Fabric and Craft Store, participating in her church’s praise band, and working on various art projects.  After high school, Maggie plans to pursue a degree in fashion design.  She’s not sure where she will attend school, but her dream school would be the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

Here are some comments from her teachers:

Mr. Spears (Multimedia Publishing Teacher):  Maggie is a wonderful student. She has shown her creativity in my Multimedia Publishing class through her work in Photoshop. I really enjoy seeing what kind of creativity develops in the minds of our students, and being able to see what Maggie has produced already has been exciting. Looking forward to the remainder of the year as she continues to grow her understanding of the various programs we'll use, and truly see how well she'll shine with her creativity.

Mr. Ernst (English Teacher):  Maggie is a careful but creative thinker, and a dedicated student. She invests deeply in everything she does, and she brings a positive energy to my class, making it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Mrs. Herringshaw (College Algebra Teacher):  Maggie is a joy to have in class.  She is an extremely hard worker and a friend to all!

Mrs. Bell (Digital Literacy Teacher):  Maggie is a great student. She is studious and determined.

EHS is proud to recognize Maggie Pettus as the November Student of the Month.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                                       ZOE PENDLETON  Zoe Pendleton is out TKS Student of the Month.  Her favorite class is science because she enjoys doing the experiments.  In her spare time, Zoe enjoys taking horseback riding lessons at Wild Rose.  She’s been riding for the past couple of years.

Kellam - Zoe Pendleton is a pleasure to have in class.  Her determination to persist when things are difficult is a lesson most students could learn from.  Zoe always has a positive attitude and growth mindset.  She has the ability to get along with all students.  Her flexibility works to her advantage in that she is willing to learn from others, but also has the ability to provide insight from a different viewpoint.

Trieschman - Zoe is a pleasure to have in class.  She is very hard-working and puts forth 100% effort in every assignment.  She knows when to ask for help and is very respectful to everyone in the classroom.  She

Always helps with picking up charts from the class before her, just to help me out (which is very thoughtful).

Zoe is a little nervous about going up to EHS but she’s looking forward to going.  When she graduates, Zoe wants to own her own horses and continue riding.  Congratulations to our November Student of the Month, Zoe Pendleton.

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY                      WARREN BADSTIBNER

Warren Badstibner is Helmwood Heights’ October Student of the month.  Warren is the daughter of David and Andrea Badstibner.  Warren is a 4th grade student in Kendra Adams homeroom.  She is active in Cross Country, volleyball and is a member of the Academic Team.  Warren also enjoys playing the piano, playing with her dogs and hanging out with her friends.  Her favorite subject in school is Math.  Her favorite food is spaghetti.  Warren attends Southeast Christian Church.

Mrs. Kendra Adams, Warren’s 4th grade teacher writes, “Warren is a phenomenal role model to all students and can often be seen finishing her work and taking the time to help others in the classroom.  She makes sure all students are included in activities and leads by example.  She is kind and respectful to adults as well as other students.  She is an All A student and excels in all academic areas.  Warren thrives on being challenged, she wants to do well, but she also wants to work hard.  She takes every opportunity to go above and beyond when asked to complete a task.  Her laugh is contagious and her sweet soul warms a teacher’s heart.  I have known Warren since she was very young and was hoping I would have her in my class and what a blessing it has been.  She makes each day an enjoyable experience.  The quote “Although she is little, she is fierce” applies to this young lady for sure.  Warren will no doubt accomplish great things in her life and I cannot wait to see the impact she makes on our community.  Congratulations Warren, what a well deserved award!!”

Mrs. Renee Lackey, Warren’s GT teacher writes, “I am so thrilled for Warren to receive this honor!  I have worked with Warren since she was in kindergarten and she is very deserving of this award.  She exemplifies the traits of a humble leader.  She is kind, caring, considerate, and a friend to all.  Her empathy for others is evident in her desire to put others’ needs first.

Academically, she never backs down from a challenge and is always seeking ways to stimulate her brain.  Her intellectual resilience will make her a productive lifelong learner.  I have no doubt that she will continue to have a positive impact on her EIS community for years to come!”

Mrs. Kersey states, “Warren was in my class in the 3rd grade!  During that school year we were virtual for almost half the y ear, so much of my time spent with Warren was only on the google meets.  I felt cheated that I did not get to be with Warren in the classroom all year long!  She is such a wonderful young lady I wish I could have her in my room for all the years to come.  She was always willing to participate in class, push herself to learn new things, work hard, persevere through any challenge.  Not only is she a great student, but she was a great friend to others in the class as well.  I am so proud that I got to be her teacher.  I know Warren is going to go on to do such amazing things in life!  Way to go Warren!”

Mrs. Marsha Adams, Warren’s science teacher, stated how wonderful she is in science.  She states that her participation is always enthusiastic and is a valuable team player.

Warren Badstibner will no doubt do amazing things in her life.  As her principal, I am thrilled to have her for a few more years but also can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in life.
