IV. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                         KIARAH DORNAN

The EHS student of the month for May is Kiarah Dornan.  Kiarah is a contentious student and athlete.  She has been on the Lady Panther basketball team since 8th grade.  Kiarah describes herself as honest, kind and helpful.  Some of Kiarah’s honors and awards include: 2019 “Hustle Award” and District Champs for 2019 and 2020.  Kiarah enjoys playing basketball and hanging with her friends.  She plans to attend a Campbellsville University to study Sports Management.

Here are some comments from her teachers and coach:

Ms. Thompson (English 111):  “Kiarah is a wonderful young lady with a very bright future.  I am happy that our school and district are recognizing her as student of the month!”

Coach Swiney:” After missing last season due to knee surgery, Kiarah was an integral part of this year’s team.  While she very well could have started for our team, she was valuable coming off the bench, because she always brought energy with her when she went in.  Unfortunately, Kiarah injured her other knee early in the district championship game and recently underwent surgery to repair the damage.

We will miss Kiarah’s leadership, determination and energy, but I’m certain because of her motivation to succeed, she’ll come back from this injury with the same energy that she played with.

EHS is proud to recognize Kiarah Dornan as the May Student of the Month.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL           REESE MOREMAN

Reese Moreman is our TKS May Student of the Month.  Reese is an Honor roll student and her favorite class is math.  She is also taking arts/humanities and Spanish for high school credit.  Reese participates in tennis and volleyball and in her spare time enjoys hanging out with her family and swimming in their  pool.

Pearman

I enjoy having Reese in my ELS class.  She’s respectful, hard-working young lady.  Her respect extends to adults and peers alike.  If she continues on her current track, she will make a fine adult citizen in the future.  Any community will be grateful to have her.

Congratulations, Reese, for this honor.

Weaver

Reese is the epitome of a true student-athlete!  She works diligently on her academics and is an outstanding tennis and volleyball player.  Reese is ALWAYS kind and respectful to her classmates, teammates, and teachers.  Her positive attitude is infectious – I don’t think I’ve heard her complain once this year!  I’m so glad I had the opportunity to have Reese in class this year and meet this amazing young lady!!

Thorn

Reese is an outstanding young lady and is well deserving of the award.  Not only is Reese an outstanding student academically, but she has been a positive role model and demonstrates leadership during her PE class.  You can see her helping others during the class, whether it’s teaching them skills of the game or simply bringing a student who may be feeling down, up again.

Reese is excited about getting up to EHS because she is ready to take on challenging classes to gain college credits.  She isn’t sure where she wants to attend school but University of Kentucky and Transylvania are possibilities.  Reese is interested in getting involved in dentistry or orthodontics.  Congratulations to Reese Moreman, TK May Student of the Month.

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY                  HADLEY HEATH

Hadley Heath is the proud daughter of Mr. Troy and Lauren Heath. Hadley is a 3rd grade student at Helmwood in Mrs. Bridgette Stinson’s class. Hadley’s extra curricular activities include Dancing at Center Stage where she has honed her craft since the tender age of 2. She is a member of the Warrior soccer team in the Elizabethtown Youth Soccer Association and in her spare time Hadley loves to read, swim, enjoy the great outdoors and being a mentor to her younger sister Finley.

I am thrilled that Hadley Heath has been recognized as Helmwood Heights’ Student of the Month.  “She truly deserves this special recognition and it is my great pleasure to share with you why she is such an amazing student,” states Mrs. Stinson

Hadley has been a virtual student all year, working from home, online…………. everyday.  It speaks for her outstanding character to be recognized for such an honor.  In such a trying year it has been so difficult to make sure that we are delivering our material to our on-line students in the same capacity of our in- person students.  However, Hadley is an extraordinary student.  She is self-motivated, independent and responsible.  She truly stands out as one of those students that every teacher feels lucky to have in their classroom.

Mrs. Leah Gardner Hadley’s 2nd grade teacher had this to say about Hadley. Hadley was a champ through the beginning of Quarantine with Panther Online Learning.  We began with packets and Hadley volunteered to be one of the 5 students from my class to try out Google Classroom in March so that we could work out all of the questions/potential problems before we released it to the entire second grade after spring break.  She was able to be a peer tutor during the remaining days of school to help the remainder of our class learn to navigate Google Classroom and Meets.  Hadley is a WONDERFUL student.  She has an amazing work ethic and strives to do her best each and every day.  She has an amazing heart, she is always willing to help out in the classroom.  She is an excellent friend and gives a shoulder to lean on as well as a listening ear to her friends.  I can not wait to see all that Hadley accomplishes, she is going to do BIG things!

Everyone who works with Hadley can attest to the fact that she is one of the first students who  logs on virtually--and most of the time-- early.  She attends every Meet, Station, and Conference and always completes her daily assignments.  One of the challenges teachers face during online learning is student engagement and participation.    Our third grade team can always count on Hadley to be an active participant.  She volunteers to answer questions and demonstrates a true desire to learn.   She is not afraid to ask questions and she graciously offers to assist other students who may be struggling. Mrs. Duff, Hadleys 1st grade teacher said that Hadley was always responsible, kind and a creative learner. “She is a role model for all Panthers”, states Mrs. Duff.

Mrs. Sara Stivers 3rd grade instructional assistant, who has worked very close with Hadley as she spends a lot of time with the 3rd grade online students, says Hadley is the epitome of a hard worker, she is the first one in meets, she works hard everyday, helps others and does it all with a smile on her face.

In closing Mrs. Stinson would like for everyone to know, It touches her heart as an educator to see someone so young embody such wonderful character traits.  It has been our honor to get to work with Hadley.  She truly exemplifies what it means to be Helmwood’s Student of the Month. She is a respectful, responsible, cooperative young lady that always gives you her best effort.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY                    MICAH EAGIN

We would like to recognize Micah Eagin as Morningside’s 4th grade Student of the Month.  Micah is very worthy of this award for many reasons!  Micah stands out as a perfect classroom citizen. He sets an example of excellence in the classroom.  He tackles all activities with a can do attitude and strives to do his BEST on every classroom activity.  He is also an example of kindness in the classroom.  Micah is always there to lend a helping hand to his friends, teachers and staff. He’s supportive, patient and helpful on a daily basis.  Micah is a student who leads by example. Micah exhibits our school guidelines for success on a daily basis….he is responsible , respectable, cooperative, and always does his best!  Micah makes our classroom a better place to be!  Congratulations, Micah on an honor well deserved!

PANTHER ACADEMY                                  ANALEE THOMPSON

Analee Thompson is the perfect candidate for the student of the month at Panther Academy.  She exhibits all the character words we have talked about throughout the year.  Analee is very respectful and always uses her manners and follows the school rules.  She is a team player willing to help in any way she can in the classroom.  I love her spunk and perky attitude.  She always comes to school with a smile and ready to learn.  She is a hard worker and takes pride in her classwork.  Alalee’s artwork always amazes me and the attention to detail is very impressive.  I am honored to have Analee be chosen as Panther Academy’s Student of the Month.  Way to go!
