III.B. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL        ANNA GRACE CARTER

The EHS student of the month for January is Annastin Carter. Anna is a senior at EHS who is an exceptional student and athlete. Anna describes herself as charismatic, hardworking and family oriented. Anna, regionally ranked as the #2 soccer player in 2020, has played on the team for four years. Anna has served four years on Student Council, Pep Club, and served two years as Class Officer. Anna loves to travel, spend quality time with her family and do anything soccer related. Anna joined the Racing Louisville Soccer Club in 2020, which brought her great joy. Some of Anna’s honors and awards include: Freshman “Newcomer of the Year,” All District Tournament Team 2019, All Region Tournament Team 2019 and 2020, All State 2020, and All Area Offensive player of the year for 2020. After high school, Anna plans to attend Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN where she will play NCAA Division 2 soccer and major in Business Finance.

Here are some comments from her teachers:

Mr. Black (Soccer Coach) - “I am delighted to have the opportunity to write a few words about our Student of the Month.   As her High school soccer coach and Geometry teacher, I have been able to see Anna Grace Carter grow as a young lady for six years as a player/teammate.  She is the Captain of our 2020 soccer team and always leads by example.  She was the hardest working player on the field every practice and every game.  This also translates into the classroom. It translates as who she is. There is no let down in this young lady.

She is honest, loyal, enthusiastic, responsible, and possesses that strong work ethic.  Her desire and drive are the attributes that make her stand out above others.   As displayed by her actions on and off the field of play, she always wants to better herself and therefore sets high standards and then goes to work to achieve those goals.  Anna Grace is motivated and has always risen to the challenge when the situation becomes more difficult.  She also sets herself apart from her peers with her ability to rise up in tough situations.  She has an incredible drive to succeed when the challenge is increased.

Anna Grace is a “Go Getter” and makes good moral choices as she is true to her core values.  She is confident in her decisions and has a strong will to make those decisions become a part of goals she sets and achieves.  She has tremendous Panther Pride and is a great representative for Student of the month.  She develops relationships with all types of people and demonstrates compassion towards others.  In all aspects of life, Anna Grace Carter is the ideal student that reflects all the values of a student that reflects our Panther Pride!”

Mr. Ernst (AP English Lit.) - “Anna Grace is an excellent student and young person. She is good natured and responsible, and she's willing to work hard to reach her goals. I'm glad to have her in class.”

Mr. Spears (Digital Lit.) – “Anna Grace has been a superb student. She turns her work in on time, asks questions when she needs help, and is overall a joy to have in class.”

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                                  WILL  LYNCH

Will is an 8th grade honor roll student who is a standout in football and baseball.  He is on the Honor roll and very talented in social studies.  In his spare time Will is active at First Christian Church, enjoys going to the lake to fish, and playing video games with his buddies.

The following teachers had this to say about Will:

Chadwick

Will Lynch is a bright and cheerful young man.  He always is smiling and making the people around him smile.  He is a hard worker and tries his best when it comes to his school work.  He is a good listener and helps those around him when they need it.  I am glad to be able to teach Will this year!

Pearman

I’m glad to have Will in ELS-Honors class this year.  He is a respectful student, punctual to class, consistent in attendance, and he continues to maintain a  respectable grade even in these crazy times.  Congratulations, Will!

Steffy

I have enjoyed having Will in class for the past 2 and a half years.  He’s got a great sense of humor and is respectful and polite.  Will has been an important part of the TKS football team and he is also an avid fisherman.  On top of all of that, he’s an excellent student.  I would take a class full of Will Lynch’s anytime!  I love this kid!

Best of luck to Will when he attends EHS next year.  Congratulations to Will Lynch, TKS January Student of the Month.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY PEDRO ZETINA-BOJORQUEZ

Our Student of the Month for 5th grade is an outstanding student who has grown so much academically and in terms of responsibility.  Pedro has been a standout student all year for our 5th grade teachers.  Each teacher would like to share something about his performance in the classroom.

Mrs. Wardrip:  I have the honor of being Pedro’s homeroom and Social Studies teacher.  Pedro has demomonstrated grit and perseverance in both hybrid and virtual setting.  I am so proud of how responsible and hardworking he is.  He has an amazing work ethic and it shows in every assignment/activity he completes.  Pedro continues to impress us with every interaction.  I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for him.

Mrs. Key:  This is my first year teaching Pedro and I am so impressed with his work ethic!  He is on every single meet every day, he always completes his work in a timely manner and it is always high quality work.  He has really opened up during our meets by participating and answering questions.  He is a sweet, hard working boy, and we all care about him so much and know that he will be successful in his future.

Mrs. Hayes:  I had the pleasure of being Pedro’s teacher in 3rd grade and now his Writing/Science teacher.  I am SO proud of his growth and progress.  He is always responsible on our Google Meets!  He listens, participates and completes his work on time.  He puts forth so much great effort and we have seen him grow exponentially over the last few years.  I know he has a bright future ahead!

Mr. Thompson:   I’m beyond proud of Pedro and all of his hard work and accomplishments so far this school year.  I have had the privilege of being Pedro’s math teacher both this year and last year and I have seen an amazing amount of growth from this young man.  Pedro has definitely risen to the challenge of virtual learning this year.  He is always on time for h is Google Meets and he is always

On time turning in his assignments.  His responsibility and determination will take far in life.  The entire 5th grade team quickly came to a consensus on Pedro as our student of the month.  We are so happy to have him be our district representative and we look forward to what this young man does in the future.  With the amount of determination and dedication to his education, he will go far in whatever he chooses to do.  Congratulations Pedro!  We, and especially me, Mr. Thompson are very proud of you!

Mrs. Jackson:  Pedro holds a special place in my heart!  We have been working together since first grade and it has been a privilege to watch him grow into the mature, responsible fifth grade student that he has become.  When we were forced into NTI in the Spring, Pedro immediately became a self-advocate for his own education and put forth great effort.  Pedro makes school a priority and we are proud of him for that decision each day!  Pedro is not only an outstanding student, but also a kind friend to his peers and teachers.  Keep making my teacher’s heart beam with pride, Pedro!  You are loved.

Mrs. Parker:  I’m so proud of Pedro!!  I’ve known him now for two years, and he keeps on surprising me!  I’m so proud of him and how he has jumped into NTI and his perseverance has been exceptional!!  I look forward to hearing all the great things that he will be doing his future!

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY                CRUZ BOYD

Cruze Boyd is an amazing student!  This year he is an all virtual student to help keep his family safe due to COVID.  He is always on our meets and willing to help others.  He is enthusiastic with his learning and works hard each day to be a successful student.  His manners are impeccable and his compassion for others impresses me each and every day.  Cruz is always willing to try new things, he strives for excellence in each subject area.

I love spending time in class with Cruz.  He is always willing to put forth his best efforts on any day.
