IV.A. Recognition of Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                 BAILEY THOMAS

The EHS student of the month for December is Bailey Thomas.  Bailey is a senior at EHS who is involved in a wide variety of activities.  Bailey is a three-sport student athlete, participating in volleyball, basketball, and softball.   In addition, she is a member of the Pep Club (where she currently serves as secretary) and the SADD Club.  Outside of the normal routine of school, Bailey has worked at Sky’s the Limit Trampoline Park and she currently works at Geno’s Formal Affair and she has also volunteered her time at Feeding America.  After graduation, Bailey plans to attend Western Kentucky University to pursue a nursing degree.

Here are some comments from her teachers:

Ms. Thompson (English teacher):  I am so happy to have Bailey in my dual credit English class this year. She has a wonderful personality and is very dedicated to being the best writer she can be. She makes great contributions to class, always reaches out to me when she needs feedback on school tasks--even if she just had her wisdom teeth pulled and is home on the couch, and genuinely is just a great young lady. I am so glad that we are recognizing Bailey as our student of the month for EHS!

Coach Swiney (Lady Panther Basketball Coach):  Bailey has been a good leader for our basketball team, and she has a tremendous work ethic.

Coach Schmidt (Lady Panther Softball Coach):  Bailey is a very active student-athlete driven to be successful in whatever endeavor she chooses.  She balances multiple sports & academics while working a job when time allows.  Bailey is a good teammate that supports her teammates in a positive manner in all three sports.  Bailey has a big heart. I can't wait to see what Bailey accomplishes after she graduates from E-Town!

Mrs. Bell (Business teacher):  Bailey is a wonderful student! Her attitude, smile, and joy are contagious and she is always a pleasure to work with.

EHS is proud to recognize Bailey Thomas as the December Student of the Month.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                       ELLA HUSTEAD

Congratulations to Ella Hustead for being Awarded Talton K. Stone’s December student of the

month.

Aidan Perry and Mrs. Carter conducted an interview with Ella to gain some information for her

write up. When asked they learned that Ella believes she was elected student of the month

because she is hard-working, dependable, listens in class and is respectful.

Ms. Brzoska capitalized on these comments and said that Ella is a key part of her theater group.

She complemented Ella for being 100% committed no matter what role she is given. Ella loves

to perform but often also takes a role backstage. No matter what job she has in a theater

performance she is always responsible and eager to take on more than what is asked of her.

Speaking of theater… it is Ella‘s greatest love.

Ella is shy and somewhat of an introvert, so she loves that theater gives her an opportunity to

feel bigger than herself - to be a part of the community- to make new friends that become more

like family. She also loves that she gets to take on a role that expresses herself and brings her

out of her shell.

Some of Ella’s favorite productions she has been a part of are: Peter Pan, Hello Dolly, Alice in

Wonderland, The Network, Anxiety is Orange, Where Green Things Play and Treasure.

Outside of theater Ella loves reading and her favorite genres are fantasy and realistic fiction.

Ella knows she has a stubborn and argumentative element. She is sure her parents will agree

with this statement. In the future however we all agree this character trait will probably serve

her well.

Speaking of Ella’s parents...a phone interview with them lead us to be informed that Ella has a

true gift that we wish more people possessed. Ella’s mother shared that Ella is very insightful to the way others are feeling so she is good at helping the culture...the vibe... when she is around!

#keepitpositive

Ella’s mom isn’t sure if her second comment is good or just a fact …. Ella is ALWAYS singing.

Just joking Ella… we know you have a beautiful voice.

One thing that was agreed on … Ella’s room isn’t always clean but yesterday it was!

Mrs. Perry asked us to share that in her class Ella’s most outstanding trait is how responsible

she is. Ms. Perry can depend on her to live up to the job as a teachers aid. Also her ethic in

social studies is a great example and role model.

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS          AMAURY RAY

I was so thrilled to hear that Amaury was selected for student of the month.  I cannot think of someone more deserving!  He is the sweetest young man!  Amaury is always following the guidelines for success.  He gives his all on everything he does.  I can’t think of a time when Amaury hasn’t had a smile on his face.  He works hard and is always so positive.  I can always count on Amaury to set a good example for those around him.  He shows integrity and does the right thing no matter who is watching.  Amaury brings a smile to my face and I am so lucky that he is in my classroom.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY                       FREDERICK WHELAN

I’m honored to recognize Frederick Whelan as the student of the month for Morningside.  He comes to school every day prepared and ready to work.  He smile is contagious and his caring, gentle spirit has become a model for all students.

In the classroom, Frederick has great organizational skills.  He is hard-working and puts all his efforts into the task at hand.  He gets long with others, follows the rules, and does his best every day.  Frederick si always striving to go above and beyond what is required.  He is a well rounded student that completes all assignments with proficiency.

Frederick is a great role model in class.  He is a positive influence on others and is always willing to lend a helping hand to a classmate or to his teachers!  We are proud to call Frederick Whelan a Morningside Panther and the 3rd grade student of the month!                 Mrs. Hatfield

PANTHER ACADEMY             LILLY KATE LYNCH

Mrs. Pinkham states - I have had the absolute pleasure of teaching Lilly Kate Lynch since August.  She is well aware that I have been anxiously awaiting her to enter Kindergarten!  I was fortunate enough to have both of her older brothers so her momma and I wouldn’t have had it any other way than to get to teach sweet Lilly.  From day one, Lilly Kate has strived to be a great role model for her classmates.  She has done nothing more than exemplify what a true leader is both academically and socially.  She follows our rules and our schools’ Guidelines for Success from the moment she enters the building until the time she leaves at the end of the day.  The other students often go to her if they need help because she is such a kind and loving friend.

Lilly Kate is also such a hard worker and thinker!  She uses her time wisely to complete any task given to her!  She pushes herself to be better than she was the day before because she always wants to learn MORE!  During our whole group and small group discussions, she always asks amazing questions sometimes making ME have to think!  She brings new vocabulary into our discussions as well!

As I said,  I have been waiting to be Lilly Kate’s teacher since the time she was born and have enjoyed every second of every day with Lilly Kate.  She is definitely a ray of sunshine in our classroom.  I am so proud to be her teacher and for her to be December’s Student of the Month.

PANTHER PLACE                   GRACE ZHENG

Grace Zheng is Panther Place’s December student of the month.  She attends Morningside Elementary where she is in Ms. Paulsen’s fourth grade class.  This is her first year at Panther Place and is proving to be a wonderful addition to our Panther Place family.  Grace is respectful to staff and students alike.  She is responsible, working diligently on her homework each afternoon.  She cooperates well with others on group activities.

Mr. Waters nominated Grace saying that she is a joy to have in his Panther Place class.  He said that Grace works hard, is quiet and polite.  She is always willing to help her fellow students at any time.  Her classmates all agreed that Grace is very kind, caring and smart.  They told me that she is willing to play and be friends with everyone.  Grace is an excellent role model displaying all the positive character traits that we encourage all our Panthers to live by.  Grace said that she likes coming to Panther Place because she has made new friends there.  She is a well rounded student who says she likes all subjects in school.  She has an older sister and a younger brother and told me that they like acting crazy and having fun together.  I’m sure her family is very proud of Grace.  We are certainly proud to name her Panther Place’s student of the month.
