IV. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              GARRETT INMAN

The EHS student of the month for Month is Garrett Inman.  When thinking of the spirit of Elizabethtown High School, Garrett is the shining example of Panther Pride.  Garrett is a member of Pep Club and Y-Club, participating yearly in KYA and KUNA.  Garrett has also been the boys basketball team manager for the past 2 years.  In his free time, Garrett enjoys playing tennis and works on his schoolwork.

For the past 6 years, Garrett has been on the Panther Soccer team, on the varsity team for the past 3 years.  Garrett has also been Mr. Yates’  teacher aid and in his AP Government class this year.  Mr. Yates was thrilled Garrett was receiving this honor and offered these comments:  “Garrett has always been a pleasure to have as a student.  He is engaging, thoughtful, and diligent in all of his work, studies, and projects.  He has been a player and wonderful teammate on the soccer team since his seventh grade year…Something you may not know about him is he’s the most competitive person on our team and in class;  It’s almost unhealthy, but do we ever love him.  But seriously, it won’t be the same without him next year…Congratulations young man”

This year, Garrett joined the staff of the Panther Bank and took Business Management with Mrs. Pennington, and she shared these comments:  “I have gotten to know Garrett this year through my Business Management and Finance and Banking classes.  As a student, Garrett is a hard-worker who completes his assignments on time.  Garrett’s job in First Panther Bank is the Administrative Assistant.  His responsibilities include filing, running and keeping minutes of our meetings, recording stock documentation and generally helping out when and where needed.  He does a great job in both classes!”

Garrett had the opportunity to take dual credit Freshmen Composition through Campbellsville University this fall with Mrs. Thompson, and she wanted to share:  “Garrett is a  sunny spot in my mornings.  He’s usually the first face in my room for 2nd period, and I always look forward to hearing the latest sports updates or Inman sibling debacles.  I adore this young man for the person he is and also for the journey I have seen him take up this year in my advanced English class.  He has complained a little along the way and tried to bargain with me to get the class out of some assignments, but at the heart of it, he has grown and learned and taken on the challenges of the course in a way not many students do.  I’m so excited that he is our student of the month.”

Mr. Thompson, the advisor for the Y-Club, emailed these comments:  “Garrett has been an excellent member of the EHS Y Club for four years.  He was always willing to help out whenever I asked.  He was also a great student in class he always turned his work in on time and contributed to class discussions.  I’m happy to see this student athlete win this award.”

Following graduation, Garrett hopes to attend Bellarmine to major in Sports Administration or Sports Medicine, hopefully becoming an athletic trainer one day.

Congratulations Garrett for being selected as the March Student of the Month and thank you for all of your contributions as an Etown Panther.  You are a leader of the class of 2019 and Etown High School is truly honored to have you represent us.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                                       KATLYN JOHNSON

Katlyn is an 8th grader honor toll student at TKS.  She is actively involved at TKS and participates in Beta, student council, student ambassador program, and drams.  Katelyn is currently the assistant director for “play On” the current EHS play.  In addition, Katlyn has earned 3 parts in the upcoming TKS play in the spring.  In her spare time, she takes tap (her favorite) and modern dance.  Katelyn is obviously a very talented artist and student.

Mr. Pearman had this to say about Katlyn:

Katlyn is well deserving of this honor of Student of the Month.  She is a fine young lady showing respect to adults and her peers.  Her diligence in the classroom is outstanding also.  If she continues on the path she is creating, she’ll be a productive citizen.  Any community would be happy to have her.  Congratulations, Katlyn!

Mrs. Perry has this to say:

Katlyn is a bundle of energy and sunshine!!!  She is honest and a great role model for her peers.  Her smile and enthusiasm lights up the room.  She gets the whole class motivated.  “With yes we can do this”!! She always produces quality work and has a great attitude.  She is a pleasure to teach and she will do well in all her endeavors.  She exemplifies Panther Pride in every way.  She loves animals and has a heart for doing what is right and treating everyone with kindness.

Katelyn is looking forward to getting more freedom and more class variety, especially science classes, when she begins EHS in the fall.  She plans to attend University of Louisville and go into the medical field.  There is no doubt she will be successful at anything she chooses to do.  Congratulations to Katlyn Johnson our March Student of the Month.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY                     ADRIAN GAMBOA

I am pleased to nominate Adrian Gamboa as the Morningside Elementary School 2nd Grade Student of the Month.  He is in Mrs. Parsons’ classroom and is an absolute joy to have in class.  I cannot think of another student more deserving of this honor.

Adrian is a model student and he exemplifies the MES Guidelines for Success:  Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Cooperative, and Be Your Best.  Every day he has a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.  He is never disrespectful to other students or adults.  He is soft spoken and very kind hearted.

Last year, Adrian was very hesitant to speak out loud in class and he was very shy and reserved.  This year he has absolutely blossomed!  He now volunteers to read aloud, answer questions, and help classmates in need.  He also loves to read.  He always seems to have a book in his hand.

I am honored to have Adrian Gamboa in my class.  He is an excellent example of what it means to be a Panther at Morningside Elementary.  I look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish as he continues his education.  This Student of the Month designation is well deserved!

PANTHER ACADEMY                      ZAYDEN MOORE

Mrs. Julia says-“I am so proud to recommend Zayden Moore for student of the month.  This is his second year at Panther Academy.  I am so thankful to have him in my class this year.  Zayden is an amazing young man.  He represents all of the qualities you love to see in a young person.  He is respectful, responsible and kind.  Zayden is very helpful in the classroom.  He loves to help his teachers and the younger students in the class.  Zayden often goes out of his way to make others feel welcomed in our room.  He is a great friend to his peers.  Zayden has also made great strides in his academic progress.  He recognized almost all of his upper and lowercase letters, sounds and numerals.  He always works hard on any task that is presented to him.  I am so proud of all of his accomplishments and I am very grateful that I have had the opportunity to watch him grow this year.”

PANTHER PLACE                               ADRIANNA TAYLOR

This is Anna’s first year at Panther Place.  She attends Morningside Elementary School where she is in Ms. Eriksen’s third grade class.  She was nominated by Mrs. Compton, Anna’s Panther Place teacher, who stated that she really enjoys having Anna in her class.  Mrs. Compton said that Anna works hard each day to complete all her homework.  She works well with others and always wants to help any classmates that may need help.  She is also quick to offer help to the teacher, like cleaning up the room at the end of the day.  Anna has good manners and is always respectful to both staff and classmates.

Anna said that her favorite subjects in school are math and reading.  She likes coming to Panther Place to get help with her homework and because she has made new friends there.  Her favorite time at Panther Place is activity time where she has learned to count money, tell time, play math games, do art projects and play PE games.  Anna said that she has a lot of fun at Panther Place.

When she is not at school or Panther Place, she enjoys her cats and watching movies with her family.

I am happy to name Anna Taylor as the Panther Place Student of the month for March, 2019.
