V.B. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              JEFFREY KRISTENSEN

The EHS student of the month for January is Jeffrey Kristensen.  Jeffrey is a senior at EHS who has always challenged himself academically and taken classes that other students have avoided.  By the time that Jeffrey graduates, he will have taken 7 honors courses, 5 AP courses, and 3 dual credit courses, resulting in 24 college credit hours.  In addition to his excellence in the classroom, Jeffrey is a member of the EHS Archery Team, the EHS Boys Lacrosse Team, and the EHS Paintball Club.  He is also an Eagle Scout, spent 3 years as an alter server at St. James, and works part-time as a paintball referee at Conder’s Paintball Field.  After graduation, Jeffrey plans to attend Western Kentucky University and go into the medical field.

Here are some comments from his teachers:

Mr. Thorn (Archery Coach):  Jeffrey is an outstanding archer that provides the positive leadership any coach would want to see on the team. Leading by example, Jeffrey is committed to the team through his dedication and work ethic. His mannerisms and willingness to assist provides a positive role model to the younger players on the team. I have been very fortunate to have coached Jeffrey and have no doubt he will be very successful in his endeavors.

Mr. Ernst (English Teacher):  Jeffrey is a remarkable young man. In the AP English classroom, he offers thoughtful input and unique insights on a regular basis. He is always ready with a clever comment or deeply interesting point of view. His presence enriches the classroom experience both for me and for his peers.

Mrs. Dodson (Communications Teacher):  Jeff is a delight to have in communication class.  He possesses a warm personality that engages others and works diligently on all tasks.  I look forward to his future speeches.

Mr. Pitts (PE Teacher):  I have had Jeffrey in class for 2 years while he has been at EHS.  He is one of the most respectful and conscientious students that I have ever had.  As polite and courteous and they come.  He has a great future ahead of him.

Mrs. Black (Anatomy Teacher):  Jeffrey is a wonderful student!  He has a tremendous work ethic and is very polite and respectful, ending each day with, "Bye Mrs. Black, have a nice day!"  He was a student in my Intro to science class and was one of the top students.  This year he is in Anatomy & Physiology and shows a true desire to learn about the human body, not just for a grade.  It has been a pleasure to work with Jeffrey.

Mrs. Deon (Digital Literacy Teacher):  Jeffrey is an asset to my classroom. He is a diligent worker, eager to learn and help others. His uplifting attitude brings encouragement to all around him.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                       ZYNAB MOVANIA

Zaynab Movania is TKS January Student of the month.  Zaynab is a straight ‘A” student and very active in extracurricular school activities. She is the Beta Club President, the Kentucky Youth Assembly Lieutenant Governor for the MS-3 conference, a member of the Y-club, student council, academic team, and newspaper.  In her spare time, Zaynab plans on playing for EHS tennis team this spring; her hobbies include reading and listen to music.

Johnson

Zaynab is vivacious and brilliant. I look forward to seeing her everyday and know that I will get hard work and leadership. She is positive, encouraging and witty (which I love). I can't wait to see how she changes the world! It has been an honor teaching her this year (although, I'm sure I've learned more from her)!

Thorn
Zaynab's outgoing personality and leadership qualities make her a perfect candidate for the Student of the Month. Always willing to lend a hand and her happy, approachable attitude allows her to establish a positive leadership role within her school. Zaynab is a team player and leads by example as evident through her grades, service, and club involvement within the school.

Pearman

I was happy to learn that Zaynab Movania received this recognition of which she is well deserving. Dedication to her studies is apparent; the respect she shows toward adults and her peers is outstanding.  I look forward to hearing of her future contributions to society

Perry

Zaynab is an excellent student.  She is a pleasure to teach!!!  I love her enthusiasm and zest for learning.  She is one of those students that will not do just enough to get by but does her best in every assignment.  I love that she stands up for her beliefs and convictions.  She gets along well with her peers.  She is very respectful.  She is just a fun person to be around!!

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS                CONNOR PEACE

I was thrilled when I found out that Connor was selected for Student of the Month. He is so deserving!

I can always count on Connor to do the right thing, without being asked. He sets a great example for others that are around him and loves to help out when he can. As we have been studying the  Habits, Connor has worked hard to practice each habit that we’ve learned-every day. He is very responsible. I never find myself having to remind Connor about things that he needs to do (or not do), he does the right thing on his own, even when no one is looking. He is very kind to everyone that he comes across and has the best manners! He is so respectful and considerate of others and their feelings.

I love getting to work with Connor every day. He always brings a smile to my face. I feel lucky to have a student like Connor in my class. He’s awesome!!!

-Ms. Kean

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY               ELLIE BLANKLEY

Ellie Blankley is a 4th grade student at Morningside Elementary School.  Her ability to exemplify our school’s Guidelines for Success (To be respectful, be responsible, be cooperative, and be your best) is what has earned her the honor of January’s Student of the Month.

She works well with anyone and everyone. When she sees that a classmate may have missed a direction or is struggling with an assignment, Ellie quietly lends a hand.  She never expects acknowledgement of her good deeds through reward.  She does them because she knows it is what is right.

The kiddo has never forgotten an assignment or to turn in a paper.  Her work is meticulous and is evidence of how seriously she takes her role as a student. We have no doubt that this trait will take her far in life.

Ellie is a silent leader that can be counted on to always do what is right, even when no one is around.  This quality has landed her as a member of the school’s Lighthouse Team where she is given the opportunity to lead and serve within our school community and in our city.  It is for these reasons that we are honored to award Ellie Blankley as Morningside’s January Student of the Month.

PANTHER ACADEMY                          BECKHAM CARROLL

Beckham Carroll is an outstanding kindergartner. On a daily basis he shows initiative, responsibility getting all his work done, honesty, and above all compassion. Beckham has such a big heart for the other students in our classroom. He not only makes sure that everyone is included, but that each student feels special. Beckham excels in his work and always pushes his learning further.

PANTHER PLACE                               TREASURE QUINN

Panther Place’s January student of the month is Treasure Quinn.  She is a fifth grader that comes to Panther Place from Morningside Elementary.  This is her first year to be enrolled in the school district and our program.  Her Panther Place teacher, Ms. Miquel Yates, nominated Treasure stating that “Treasure is a role model student who is very gifted.  She went on to say that Treasure goes above and beyond to help others.  She always comes to class with a positive attitude and is prepared to put forth 110% effort.  After she is finished with her homework, she helps other struggling students.  She is a very service oriented, caring and forgiving person.  In the future, I see her doing great things in academia and life with her profound leadership skills. For a young lady her age, we are impressed how well she carries herself in a calm and collected manner.

I spoke with Treasure and she told me that math is her favorite subject in school.  She said that she likes coming to Panther Place because she can get her homework done.  When not in school or Panther Place, Treasure likes doing gymnastic flips and enjoys spending time with her family.

It is with great pleasure that we name Treasure Quinn Panther Place’s student of the month for January 2019.
