IV. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                              NOAH PEELER

The EHS student of the month for November is Noah Peeler.  Noah is an outstanding student leader at EHS.  He is currently president of the Pep Club and captain of the varsity Football team.  Noah is also an active member of the EHS Track team, participating in the following events – 400 meter, 200 meter, 4x2 team and 4x4 team.  In addition, Noah is an active member of his church where he is the lead singer in the choir.  Noah hopes to continue to play football in college, however, he is still undecided on where he will attend – some of his prospects include Austin Peay State University, Georgetown College, Mount St. Joseph University and Western Kentucky University.  Where ever Noah ends up, he plans to study Business Management with the hopes of one day owning his own business.

Here are some comments from his teachers:

Mrs. Dodson (Communications Teacher):  Noah is a positive, self-directed young man, a role model for many.  I enjoy having him in Communications because he is very attentive, works well with others, and is an encouraging presence.

Mr. Hayes (Math Teacher):  Noah is a perfect example of what a TRUE Leader is.  His enthusiasm, work ethic, and POSITIVE attitude provide an outstanding example for his peers to emulate.  In a profession like demands so much time and effort, students like Mr. Peeler make everyday worth while.

Coach Brown (PE Teacher and Football Coach):  Noah is an outstanding student as well as an outstanding athlete.  He has great leadership skills and communicates easily with peers and adults alike.  Noah is also one of the most driven students and athletes I’ve had the pleasure of teaching and coaching throughout my career.  His work ethic and determination to succeed will allow him to accomplish many things throughout his life.  His compassion and desire to help others has made him an amazing mentor for younger students who need positive role models and guidance.  The best compliment I can give Noah is to point out that he is a great person.  He is just a good kid.

Mrs. Thompson (English Teacher):  I have been lucky enough to have Noah in my class for two years now in junior and senior English.  I appreciate Noah’s level-headedness, maturity, and compassion.  His teachers and his peers respect him because he is genuinely a good hearted person.  He looks out for those around him and he leads when the opportunity arises.  He is incredibly intelligent and one of the most worthy students whom we should honor as student of the month.

EHS is proud to recognize Noah Peeler as the November Student of the Month.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                       LILY CLAGETT

Lily is an 8th grader at TKS.  She is a straight “A” student and very active in extracurricular activities such as the marching band, student council, Beta, and the drama club.  In her spare time, she enjoys playing the trumpet, drawing and painting with watercolors.  Her family just now reorganized her grandfather’s studio so she hopes to expand her artistic abilities to oil painting as well.

Great student and willing to help out anyway possible / Druin

Fantastic leader who always exhibits great behavior. Lily is very creative /Hutchins

I thought it was awesome when I heard Lily Clagett received this honor.  Since the beginning of the year, she has consistently shown respect toward me and, from what I can tell, her fellow classmates.  Her efforts in class are noteworthy striving to achieve her best potential.  Our society will benefit from Lily's future endeavors if she continues her focus.  Congratulations, Lily!/ Pearman

Lily is looking forward to attending EHS next year because she knows a lot of people up there already and is looking forward to seeing them regularly.  She doesn’t know what college she wants to attend but knows she will focus in the field of Arts, especially acting and visual. Congratulations to Lily Clagett our November Student of the Month.

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY      NASH PEACE

Fourth grader, Nash Peace, has been selected as Helmwood Heights Elementary Student of the Month for November.  When Nash’s classmates in Kendra Adams homeroom heard he was the winner they were so excited for him.  They couldn’t say enough nice things about him.

Nash exhibits many qualities that make him a worthy recipient of his honor.  His classmates describe him as kind and friendly.  One student said that he was a friend to everyone and they wished they were able to make friends as fast as he did.  Another classmate simply stated that they wished they were just like Nash.  These comments are testaments of Nash’s good character.  Nash can always be counted on to make good choices and to stay on task.  He is the epitome of Integrity.  He does the right thing even when no one is watching.  He can always be counted on to be a great role model for his classmates.

Nash is also an exceptional student.  He excels in all academic areas. He is currently a member of the Academic Team.   He seems to enjoy Math and can work through problems and explain concepts to his classmates.  If he sees another student struggling, he takes the time to help them understand.  Nash’s work is always neat and his handwriting is something else his classmates admire. He is consistently  on task in all areas of study. Several students also took the time to comment on his neat appearance and great hair.  He can always be seen with a great big smile on his face.   He takes pride in his work and appearance and is a very hard worker.

Responsible is another word that was mentioned several times by Nash’s classmates when describing him.  One classmate stated that Nash always listened, was a good friend and was always respectful.  Each morning as Nash’s little brother, Connor, says good bye to him at his classroom door, you can see him give him a big hug and fist bump.  He’s a great big brother.

He also is a gifted athlete.  Nash is an outstanding baseball player and plays this in his time outside school. He also loves to play basketball and is an avid University of Louisville fan.   At recess, Nash can be seen competing and getting together a variety of games.  He has a competitive spirit, but maintains great sportsmanship.

Nash is the 10 year old son of Brian and Katie Peace.  He has an older sister, Kayla and younger brother, Connor.

I feel honored to be Nash’s homeroom teacher and could not ask for a more hard working, focused, determined and all-around outstanding young man to have in class.  I am so pleased to have Nash represent our class and his classmates are as well.  What a well deserved honor Nash!!

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL                   PATRICK JANES

I would like to take the time to recognize one of my 1st graders, Patrick Janes.  Patrick is a silent leader in my classroom.  Patrick is kind, respectful and always is looking out for others in the classroom.  Whenever I give an example of someone doing the “right thing” in the classroom, I often use Patrick’s name.  The class looks to Patrick for following our school’s Guidelines to Success.  Patrick makes friends easily and often plays with different students on the playground, especially when he notices that they are not having a great day.  Aside from Patrick’s exceptional behavior in the classroom, he is just an all around great person.  He loves his family and his farm.  His mother and brother visited our classroom for lunch and Patrick helped his little brother in the hallway showing him how we walk in line.  I am excited and very proud of all his hard work so far this school year and I cannot wait to see how this young man will progress throughout this school year and the many more to come.  I am honored to have Patrick Janes represent Morningside Elementary as Student of the Month!

PANTHER ACADEMY                      ZANE BUTLER

Panther Academy’s November student of the month is Zane Butler.  He is a 4 year preschool student that exemplifies our school’s guidelines for success.

Mrs. Rogers’ wrote “From the first morning Zane entered our preschool classroom, he has been respectful and a stand up student.  When he sees other children in need he takes it upon himself to help them or come ask us for help.  He is also a very hard worker and wants his work to be perfect.  If he ever struggles with something, he’s the first one to ask how to make it right!  He also does a wonderful job during our large group discussions and is always engaged in every conversation.  He leads through example and helps anyone he can along the way.  I cannot wait to see where this preschool year takes him, and how much he grows and helps others to grow as well.  He is very much deserving of this student of the month award!”

PANTHER PLACE                               DALYLA WASHINGTON

Panther Place’s student of the month for November is Dalyla Washington.  She comes to us from Helmwood Heights Elementary where she is in Mrs. Duff’s first grade class.  Her Panther Place teacher, Ms. Abby, nominated her stating, “Dalyla is very quiet and soft spoken, but when she warms up to you, she has a lot to say.  She is kind to all of the other students and is very willing to help anyone.  Before I tell the class to do anything, Dalyla has already done it and is waiting patiently for further instructions.”

I asked some of her classmates to tell me about Dalyla and they had these kind words to say:

  • “She’s good and never does anything bad and doesn’t get points taken away.”

  • “She’s really nice to other kids and if a kid falls down, she helps them up.”

  • “Sometimes she helps me play with the toys and helps me pick up.”

  • “She’s my friend and we play with each other outside.”

  • “Dalyla is sweet and she’s my best friend.”

  • The two student assistants in our first grade class shared the following about Dalyla:  “She is really nice and works hard on her homework and the other stuff that we do in class.”

  • “Whenever she is asked to do something, she does it right away without hesitation.”

Dalyla is one of our youngest and sweetest panthers so; I am looking forward to watching her grow in our program trough her elementary years.  It is with great pleasure that I present Dalyla as Panther Place’s November student of the month.
