VI.I. Approve Request to Increase Paid Meal Prices
Rationale

Attached is a letter from Mr. Mike Sallee, Nutrition Services Coordiator, requesting approval to raise meal prices effective the 2015/2016 school year.

The Federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, Section 205, Equity in School Lunch Pricing states:
Effective July 1, 2011, schools are required to charge PAID students a lunch price that is on average equal to the difference between free meal reimbursement and paid meal reimbursement.  Schools that charge less are required to gradually increase their prices until they meet the requirement.  Schools may choose to cover the difference in revenue with non-Federal funds instead of raising paid meal prices.

Because we do not meet the State requirement on our Paid Lunch Equity we  need to raise our prices for school lunches by $.25 next year.  This will be the first increase since 2012.  This price increase will still keep us below or even with the PAID meal prices of our neighboring districts.

VI.J. Approve Application for Emergency Substitute Certification
Rationale

While our district is committed to employing the best qualified substitute teachers available, all substitute teacher applicants do not hold Kentucky teaching certificates.  Therefore, the Education Professional Standards Board's Division of Certification provides an Emergency Substitute Certification for those individuals.  We have utilized this emergency certification process for many years and present this to you at this time as an update/renewal.  A copy of the Emergency Substitute Certification is attached for your reference.
