IV. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
IV.A. Students of the Month
Rationale

ELIZABETHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL                                NIC McDONALD

Nic McDonald is a hard-working, determined student who is never satisfied; he always feels that there is room for growth. Nic describes himself as humble and organized. He is able to maintain good grades while playing basketball but he's not one of those kids who brags about himself or what he has accomplished. Coach Todd commented, “Nic is a quite, effective leader by example – a rare quality with young people today.  Most young people try to lead with their mouths, and to some extent this is needed.  However, Nic leads primarily by example on the basketball court and in the classroom.”  Mr. Yates adds, “Both as a student and teacher aide, Nic is respectful, responsible, and trustworthy in all objectives, tasks, and assignments given to him.  He is an example for other students to strive towards as a student, and he makes my life easier as a teacher.  Awesome student-athlete.”  EHS is proud to recognize Nic McDonald as the November Student of the Month.

T.K. STONE MIDDLE SCHOOL                                        EMMA PARDUE

I’ve had the pleasure of having Miss Emma Pardue in both 6th and 8th grade. Since our first encounter her 6th grade year, Emma has blossomed into a beautiful and intelligent young lady. Emma is the type of student all teachers wish they had in class. Emma works hard each and every day in class, even when the content isn’t the most interesting. She pushes herself to be the best student she can be, and she comes in the classroom every day with a positive and upbeat attitude. She works well with all of the students in class, and she is a role model for her peers. Emma is truly deserving of the “Student of the Month” title, as she is a high achieving, respectable and kindhearted young lady. Congrats, Emma!

HELMWOOD HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY                       JULIE SALVADOR

Julie Salvador-Prues is a third grader in Ms. Clemons class and has attended Helmwood since kindergarten.  She is the daughter of Alexandra Prues and Justino Salvador.  Her maternal grandparents live in Germany and her paternal grandparents live in Mexico.  Julie and her family try to go to both countries at least once per year for a visit.

This young lady is a very well-rounded student.  She is a talented swimmer, gymnast, actress and student.

Julie can always be counted on to do her best work, return all of her homework, and help others in need.  She is truly a role model that other students look up to.

This is a very busy young lady.  She is swimming for the Etown Dolphins for her second year and practices each day.   She also does gymnastics at Etown Gymnastics twice a week.  Julie never misses an opportunity to try out for parts in local plays and has participated at least three times in productions at the Missoula’s Children Theater.  She has a passion for acting!

When Julie is not busy with all her extra-curricular activities, she is reading (another passion of hers), playing with her best friends Caleigh and Lucy or playing with her dog Lizzie.

MORNINGSIDE ELEMENTARY                                        BRADEN SHEARER

Braden is one of the most conscientious students I have had in a long time.  Braden comes to school every day prepared, and ready to work.  He has great organizational skills; he has the ability to plan and organize not only his things but his thoughts as well.  Braden is hard working and is a student who puts all his efforts into the task at hand, without compromising quality.  He is one of those well rounded students who gets along with others, follows the rules, and puts forth his best effort.  Braden has a great attitute and seems to enjoy school, he is attentive, he enjoys listening to stories, and is an avid reader himself.  He is well advanced in math; he came to 3rd grade already knowing all of his multiplication and division facts.  Braden is a role model in class and for group work too; he is comfortable taking the leadership role in a group if no one else steps up.  I throughly enjoy working with Braden.  He is a perfect fit for Student of the Month!            Written by:  Ginger Porter

PANTHER ACADEMY                                                    ZOEY STILLWELL

The preschool student of the months is Zoey Stillwell.  Zoey is an excellent student who loves discovering new things.  She is a role model for the other students in the classroom.  She always follows the classroom rules and will gently remind younger students what they need to do.  Zoey loves helping in the classroom.  Zoey is an avid puzzle solver and will help children who are having difficulty putting a puzzle together.  Zoey loves learning and is eager to learn and share what she has learned with her teachers.  We are so proud of you Zoey!  You are our outstanding preschool student of the month!                                                                    Written by:  Betsy Beach

PANTHER PLACE                                                        LILYNN SANDERS

Lilynn attends Helmwood Elementary School where she is in Mrs. Barnes' fourth grade class.  This is her first year at Panther Place and she is such a wonderful addition to our program.  She was nominated by our fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Robinson, who wrote that Lilynn goes above and beyond what is asked of her.  She works hard on her homework and she loves to help others in the class.  She has a positive attitude and participates in all activities.  I asked some of her classmates to tell me about Lilynn.  They told he that she is kind and helpful and cares about people that are sad or hurt.  They also told me that she is respectful and responsible.  If the teacher tells her to do something, she does it the first time.  They said that she is fun  to play with and that she will make a way to include everyone into a game.  Lilynn told me that her favorite thing about Panther Place is that she can get her homework done.  Her favorite subject is Math.  When not at school or Panther Place, she loves playing with her four dogs and her younger brother, Andy.  Because of all these wonderful traits, her compassion and helpfulness to others and her desire to be a good student we are proud to name her our November student of the month.
