Rationale

Congratulations to our Inspire, Engage, Grow Employee of the Month:

November 2022 - Nick Simon -

Congratulations to Nick Simon, our November 2022 Inspire, Engage, and Grow Employee of the Month!

Nick does a great job of building into our students and making them enjoy being part of a group that demonstrates continuous progress.  Listening to the band at the start of the year and hearing their remarkable improvement each time they play is inspiring.  Nick’s strengths as a “doer” and “worker” are clearly evident as he is steadily building numbers back to our band program.  The quality of music played exemplifies his development of students in the band/music program. He is wonderful example of our mission to Inspire, Engage, and Grow!

Mr. Simon has been a member of our staff for the past two school years.  He is a dedicated employee who cares deeply about students and is passionate about our band program.

Mr. Simon and the band help with our school culture and community efforts by doing multiple things outside school including:  Winter Band Concert, Pep Band at Fall and Winter Sporting events, Veteran's Day Program, Burning of the Tiger, KSA Rewards Picnic at end of school year, Annual Fine Arts Festival, Homecoming Parade, Memorial Day Parade, Graduation, etc.

In addition, Mr. Simon shows up at non-band extra-curriculars to support his students.  He has taken the lead in playing music between bells to help promote a positve school culture.

He is supportive of band students and their talents by promoting opportunities outside DHS at universities across the state.  His guidance and passion to promote music and our students has benefited our Greendevils immensely.

In addition, he is well respected by staff and students at Dayton High School.

We are excited to see Mr. Simon continue to Grow our band!

4.C. Athlete of the Month - Kaydence Mullins
Rationale

We are proud to recognize Kaydence Mullins as our December 2022 Athlete of the Month.

Kaydence is very hard working, dependable, and is always cheering on her teammates. She is very determined to reach her goals and improves every week along with being a high score bowler in almost every match, making her a valuable asset to the team. Her high energy, spirit, and drive will get her a long way in and out of the bowling alley.

Kaydence is a member of cheer, bowling, track, Future Business Leaders of America, and is one of our students in the YSA program attending classes at NKU.

4.D. Artist of the Month - Anna Karnes
Rationale

From Nick Simon:

This month I have chosen Anna Karnes as the Artist of the Month. This semester Anna has really stepped up into a leadership role with the band. She is always prepared for every performance, and she always brings her A-game. She stepped up to play the National Anthem as a soloist at several home football games this year and every time she did many people would stop by the band section to complement her playing. Anna has grown a lot as a musician over the last school year, and I am very excited to see just how good she can become.
