Congratulations to our March 2022 Athlete of the Month - Lacey Holt

Lacey Holt was selected as the athlete of the month due in part to her election to the Division Three Basketball All-Star Team as well as her extensive contributions to both basketball and soccer throughout the school year.

4.C. Artist of the Month - Kevin Buemi
Rationale

Congratulations to our March 2022 Artist of the Month - Kevin Buemi!

Kevin was picked as artist of the month due to his superb work ethic and his willingness to try new things. Kevin excels in his black and white realism drawings and has also pushed himself creatively this year.

The board meeting scheduled for April 27 conflicts with the NKY Ed Council Excellence in Education Award Dinner, in which we have 2 teachers being honored.  The board meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, April 25, 2022.

  • Scheduling process has begun - student request forms have gone out to all grades

  • CCR numbers - 26 of 55 students are college or career ready.  13 ATC students will be career ready at the end of the school year

  • Reviewed honor roll and super honor roll numbers - for the first time since COVID - students were able to go to Bellevue for lunch

  • Blood drive organized by Angie Buschle for National Honor Society took place

  • New cell phone and backpack policy is in place

  • The state ACT for all juniors took place March 8, 2022

  • Regular check-in meetings with all certified staff  have started

  • Student of the month lunch at Hometown Heroes will happen on Friday, March 25

  • Congratulations to Beth Fields for being chosen as a Golden Apple Award recipient

  • The 5th and 6th grades are going to Camp Joy on Friday, March 25. This is not an overnight trip this year

  • Spring parent teacher conferences will focus on academic growth

  • Prime Time Reading is in it's 4th week

  • The work with Clifton Strengths is continuing with 4th and 5th grades

  • Demonstrations is writing work is continuing.  Teachers are doing really well 

  • Discussed Impact Survey results with teachers and staff at LES

  • Juniors did a great job with the ACT - really seemed to try hard

  • Conversations regarding summer learning are starting

  • We have one custodian that is out long term on workman's comp

  • Starting to put together a summer cleaning schedule

  • We entered into a maintenance agreement with Team All-Sports

  • Property acquisitions are continuing - we entered into a verbal agreement with the owner of the green house

  • Officer Ripberger will complete SRO training this summer

  • We are utilizing the Handle With Care Program which alerts school administrators if the police department is called to home of any of our students

  • We had a bus break down enroute to a track meet in Louisville - approx $5,000 repair.

  • Addressed chronic absenteeism - it is a problem everywhere

  • Early learning standards are being changed at the state level - rating system is new

  • Kindergarten and preschool registration is scheduled for April 20, 2022

  • Behavior institute will take place in the fall of 2022 and will be in person for the first time in 2 years. Staff members are looking forward to attending.

Rationale

Calming Space Grant - 

Kentucky has received a total of $180,000 for ESSER II and III to enhance social-emotional skills, specifically for self-management strategies for students.  Nine school districts will be awarded $10,000 grants for the 2022-2023 school year.  There are 3 options to choose from:
