Owen was nominated by Mr. Simon because he has been showing great leadership inside of the band. He is reliable and always able to help right the ship when things go awry. Owen has shown that he is a leader in the ensemble and someone can always be counted on. 

4.D. Athlete of the Month - Russell McIntyre
Rationale

Congratulations to our February 2022 Athlete of the Month - Russell McIntyre!

Russell improved his bowling average on the season to a 168 and played a big part in helping our boys team get to state.  He showed great leadership and worked with other bowlers outside of team practices to help them improve.   He was also a member of our unified bowling team and worked well with his partner athlete to help him improve.

  • Primetime Reading is back.  This program is for students and families in grades 1-3.  A meal is provided as well as well as a story told by a trained storyteller.  The goal is to have 25 people each week
  • Update on the Reading League.  A coach meets with each teacher individually to determine what their classroom needs are
  • Learning Grove - family partnerships - staff training took place today (2/23/22).  All students in grades 4-12 will take the Clifton Strengthfinder.

  • Working on summer cleaning schedule - will be modified from past years due to renovations at the high school

  • Shoutout to maintenance staff for working on a Sunday to get the parking lots clear after ice storm.  Big thanks to the city of Dayton as well

  • There is a new door lock on the LES cafeteria door

  • Gave an update on status of property acquisiton

  • We had a surprise safety inspection in January, but it went well

  • Officer Ripberger and Ron Kinmon went to Scott High School for an SRO meeting to discuss current drug problem

  • Preschool enrollment numbers are up

  • New preschool standards will be released this summer

  • Snacktime with Tim (local radio station program that interviews preschoolers) will take place the first week in March

  • Continue to improve mental health service offerings for students

  • Will be supplying lunch for NKCES and regional school on Friday 2/25/2022 to show appreciation for all they do.

7.G. Grants Report
Rationale

Kentucky Innovative Learning Network Travel Grant - funds used to travel outside of the state of Kentucky to visit exemplar schools (list of suggested school provided) in the area of educational innovation.

STEPP Grant - funds used to assist schools and districts in developing a program to strengthen their local teacher recruitment pipeline through the purposeful support of individuals already connected with the school system to attaining their teacher certification. Schools/districts will establish intentional plans for paraprofessional, substitute teacher, and/or pre-service teacher professional growth and development opportunities. This will allow schools/districts opportunities to invest in the development of pipelines to recruit and retain fully certified classroom teachers serving in their communities.
