Discussion

Danielle discussed PBIS and how she thinks it is beneficial to the students. She also mentioned the intervention classes being offered such as college readiness and test taking skills for students that need a little extra help and other classes such as history of film for those that have already met their benchmarks.

7.B. DHS Principal's Report

Mr. Dodd also mentioned the PBIS and how it is using "common language" so that all teachers and students are on the same page. He also noted that 11 students are currently attending the Gateway classes. Lastly, he mentioned that every class, every bell will be conducting 10 for 10 assessments this year. That is a 10 question test to be completed in 10 minutes. Questions will be of ACT quality.

7.C. LES Principal's Report

Mr. Duty noted all the hard work of the custodial staff throughout the summer to keep the building clean even during the summer learning programs. He also mentioned that teachers in grades 4-6 attended a professional development back in June on the Junior Great Books program. The school administration will be working with Mr. Wolf and the teachers on implementing the program into various classrooms including the Tier I and
Enrichment classes. Lastly, he noted that the administration has been using the new walkthrough forms while conducting walkthroughs in the building.

Mr. Wolf discussed the Program Review Scores for each school. He also mentioned the Fall Data clean-up and that we are doing away with the MAP testing for grades 7-12 and will be using CERT instead.

7.E. Attendance/Energy Management/Student Services/Transportation

Mr. Kinmon discussed attendance and prepared a report that compared the first and last day of school from 2009-2015 and compared day 8 of 2014 and 2015. He also reported for energy management that the new lights were installed at DHS and they will replace 2 lights at LES and 2 at daycare soon. Lastly, he mentioned that in November there will be a School Safety Assessment and we will be doing an 8 week long mentor/mentee program this year to help students that are having trouble attending school.

7.F. Special Education/Early Childhood/Day Care

Mrs. Howell noted that the Special Education job coach that we are sharing with Bellevue has started. She also mentioned that the Special Education and Preschool websites should be up and running soon. Lastly, she reported that the Daycare is doing well and might be at capacity by the end of the year, Preschool currently has 108 students, and we hired a part-time Preschool Teacher to assist.

7.G. Food Service

Mr. Brewer noted that our new Food Service Director, Lauren Marlow, is off to a good start. He also mentioned that the Cook for America healthier food choices at the cafeteria has been an adjustment for some of the students but hopefully they will get used to it over time.
