Rationale

Technical revision of Policy 109 in the Employee Handbook is necessary for the Police Department to be able to implement the new Educating Heroes program offered by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training which will provide the opportunity for a new police applicant to earn an Applied Science Associate’s Degree from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Bluegrass Community and Technical College while he or she is attending law enforcement basic training.

Rationale

JED Rentals, LLC has consented to the annexation of the property located at 3509 Fairview Drive (Mallard Landing) containing 3.461 acres. Additionally, in 2013 the developer annexed Hobo Estates into the City and was to receive incentives.  The Order sets forth the terms and conditions of the development incentives for both properties.

Rationale

The City has for many years funded and offered social service agency assistance to its citizens and community through United Way of the Ohio Valley and desires to continue that assistance by entering into a new three (3) year agreement with United Way.

Rationale

Members of the audience are invited to address the City Commission on any matter of public concern that was not on tonight’s agenda.  Comments are limited to issues within the scope and responsibility of this Commission.  Commission meetings are held to conduct city business for the benefit of Owensboro citizens and taxpayers. 

At this time, anyone who wishes to address the City Commission please make their way to the podium to be recognized.  Speakers must state their name and address for the Clerk’s record, and limit their remarks to three (3) minutes or less.  Since the item is not on the agenda, no response is required from City staff or the Commission.  The Mayor reserves the right to extend time to the speaker.
