Judge Johnston signed a proclamation for June as Elder Abuse Awareness month. The court was joined by several supporters of the cause, led by Rita Morphew.

Denetra Henderson – Kentucky Transportation Department
Deneatra Henderson, Chief District Engineer, Department of Highways, District 2 gave an update on Hwy 1903. She stated that she felt it was a positive update. The 2013 agreement was out dated and they have gone through several drafts working with the mining company to get to the current agreement. The current agreement is for an opening date of no later than December 31, 2028, that is 1 1/2 years to be completely done and usable, which includes finishing the reclmation and building the roadway.

First Reading Ordinance 2026-5 Administrative Code
Jason Bullock stated that the Administrative Code committee had met, and they were not presenting the first reading at this meeting as there were 5 things in question that they need to further work out, get better wording so they are going to consult with the state auditor's office.

First Reading Ordinance 2026-6 FY 2025-2026 Budget Amendment
Motion Passed: Motion to approve first reading Ordinance 2026-6 FY 2025-2026 Budget Amendment
passed with a motion by Dale Beavin and a second by Larry Morphew.
It was explained that Shreve Bridge, is now completed, and that it so close to the end of the budget year, an amendment is needed to be able to pay that bill, which will be reimbursed by the state within 30 to 45 days after the payment is made.

Brenda Renfrow - Senior Games
Brenda Renfrow, Ohio County Senior Center Director, shared some statistics from the center, and said all is going very well. She then talked about the Senior Games to be held on Friday, June 12. The games are hosted by a seven County area. It is a picnic and outdoor event each year. This is the first time they are to be held in Ohio County as they were scheduled in 2020 and then covid came along. Along with the games, will be celebration of the 30 year anniversary of the senior center in the park.

Michael McKenney stated that he had approached Nick Woolen about some road issues and he felt that at some point a Town Hall Meeting about Odessa Drive may be needed. Landfill Committee had a trip planned to go look at a landfill.

Motion Passed: Motion for the court to pass a moratorium on data centers for 12 months, so they can get more information and learn more about them passed with a motion by Larry Morphew and a second by Bo Bennett.
Larry Morphew stated that he would like for the court to pass a moratorium on data centers for 12 months, so they can get more information and learn more about them. He then stated that he was making that in the form of a motion. Judge Johnston thought perhaps documentation was needed, like an ordinance or resolution. Jason Bullock asked if the judge could check and see what Butler County had done, as they had taken an action at their meeting the previous day. After a bit more discussion, Bo Bennett seconded the motion. Judge Johnston stated his opposition, a roll call was taken and the motion passed.
