VII.3. District Nurse Proposal
Jennifer Fowee, Director of Health Services
Rationale

With the new normal of school nursing, plus the recent vacancy of our District Health Assistant position, this is the perfect time to consider restructuring our Health Services department to allow for better support, better implementation of services, and improved processes to maintain compliance.

The District Nurse will singlehandedly fill several roles that are missing within our department: replacing our Health Assistant, performing as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Health Services, and serving as an additional built-in Sub Nurse.

Mr. Bill Grein, Director
Rationale

By March 1st, each Site Based Decision Making (SBDM) council must have a draft of the 2023-2024 SBDM Allocation.  This draft is based on the school enrollment at the end of the 5th attendance month (1/25/2023)

An updated allocation will be presented to the board for approval by May 1st, based on enrollment closer to the end of the current school year.

By September 15th, schools will get a revised allocation based on actual enrollment for the 2023-24 school year.

VII.5. Possible Elementary Consolidation
Mr. Ken Kippenbrock, Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations
Rationale

Alvin L. Garrison, Superintendent of Schools recommends the Board of Education vote to consolidate from the five current elementary schools to four elementary schools for the 2023-2024 school year. Elementary students would be districted to attendance zones based on the attached map. The building would be retained for future use if elementary membership were to significantly increase.

Rationale: Currently, elementary schools are operating at 71% capacity. By consolidating to four elementary schools it is projected for the 2023-2024 school year elementary schools would be operating at 88% capacity.

This will result in substantial savings to the district and still allow space for any moderate increase in population.
