Pursuant to KRS 160.345 (8) section 2.  The local school district shall provide notice to school councils of a tentative allocation by March 1 and notice of an updated allocation by May 1 of each year for the funds and positions identified in Section 4, 5, 6, and 8 of this administration regulations for the next budget year in accordance with the administrative regulation.

VII.6. Create an MTSS Coach for Holmes High School

Rationale

MTSS stands for "multi-tiered systems of supports."  Our MTSS coordinator will help create the systems and structures in place to provide targeted support to our students.  This system blends academic interventions with behavior interventions so that we can create unified systems to best support our students.

This position will be for 2 years and funded through the Violence Prevention Grant Partnership with Erlanger Elsmere School District.  There will be no general fund cost for this 2 year position.  At the end of the two years, the High School Leadership team will need to roll this person or their role into one of their SBDM allocated positions.

The Kentucky Department of Education requires Covington Independent Public Schools to approve the BG-4 Form to reflect the final construction cost.  Please see the attached BG-4 Form.

The Finance Director is asking for approval so the BG4 can be submitted to KDE facilities for approval so that the BG5 can be done next to free up any money left in the project.  The residual amount can be used for future construction projects.  It's a lengthy approval process with KDE facilities.  The BG4 & BG5 can't be done at the same time with KDE facilities due to their FACPAC system.  The district is trying to be able to use this money on their next construction project.

Rationale

Covington Independent Public Schools intends to participate in the following memberships and programs with the Northern Kentucky Cooperative Extension Services (NKCES) for the 2022-2023 School Year:

  • NKCES Membership and Grants Consortium ($10,500 base plus ADA *.50)
  • Phoenix Program ($26,000 per slot)

  • Challenge Program ($52,500 per slot)

  • Vision Impaired (indicates need for services only)

For the 2022-2023 the district will be requesting eight slots for the Phoenix Program and three spots for the Challenge Program. Funding sources for the NKCES Membership and NKCES Grants Program are district funded. Phoenix Program, Challenge Program and Vision Impaired are funded through Special Education and IDEA-B funds.

Rationale

Latonia Elementary is seeking approval for Penny Wars. Penny wars is when we challenge students to bring in all the extra change they can find. The change is deposited in our general fund activity account and used to fund our year end carnival. The year end carnival is a student incentive and students earn tickets for behavior, attendance, and testing scores.
