III.1. Lexia Core5 Reading and Lexia Power Up Reading
Mr. Scott Alter, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Support
Rationale

Lexia Core5 Reading and Lexia Power Up Reading are online reading programs which will provide all students K-12 from at risk to on-level and advance a systematic and structured approach to six areas of reading, from phonological awareness to comprehension. The program creates personalized learnings paths for each student through an adaptive placement and scaffolded activities that align to rigorous state standards.  The purpose of requesting these programs is to provide our students with explicit, systematic instruction in all five components of reading instruction.

During our NTI learning in the spring of 2020 our students were not able to receive the reading instruction they usually receive through direct instruction by their teachers.  Through in-person, direct instruction teachers are able to give corrective feedback and repetitions with needed skills to our students as needed to advance their learning.  These programs adjust to students learning and provide that corrective feedback and repetition students need to grow.

These online programs are intuitive and research based and would provide both on level, above level and intervention for our students in reading.  These programs would provide explicit instruction for our students in a remote setting and can be used by our teachers when in-person also.  Teachers and administrators can monitor their students’ progress online, which is especially critical if we were in a remote learning situation.

III.2. Audio Enhancement ~ Blended Classroom Audio and Camera System
Mr. Scott Alter, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Support
Rationale

Preparing for the 2020-2021 school year, we know we will have students who will be participating in in-person classes, but we will also have students whose parents will request full time remote learning for their children.  Our purpose for seeking out this type of audio and video system is to provide our student with either live or recorded sessions of teachers teaching in the classroom.  We know it is very important for our students who may be learning from home to be able to see and hear a teacher each day.  This system would also allow students to view recorded sessions, which students could view at any time during or even after the actual school day.  This system would also create blended learning opportunities for our students.  In a blended learning environment, students can access recorded sessions of the teacher at a later time in order to review content the students may be struggling with in school or with homework.

This product by Audio Enhancement, is an all in one audio and video system. This combined solution allows educators to record both audio and video content for students participating in remote or blended learning. For in-person instruction, this system offers clearly enhanced audio, vital for when teachers need to speak through a mask. This portable system, when integrated with the installed server, has all the features in one simple-to-use package.  The systems are lightweight and portable to allow use in multiple classrooms.
