Rationale

The Board of Education is required to approve a close estimate Working Budget for all funds by September 30 of each year.   Each of the funds is balanced with anticipated expenditures equaling anticipated revenue.  Special Revenue includes all new projects for FY2021. Building Fund, Capital Outlay Fund, Food Service Fund, Debt Service Fund, and Daycare Fund are also presented in this Working Budget.

This is an informational item and will be brought back to the Board for approval on September 24, 2020.

Pursuant to CIPS Policy 09.33 Fund Raising Activities, Board approval is required for all school-wide fundraising activities. Ninth District Elementary is requesting approval to host a Scholastic Book Fair to raise funds for the school library.

Rationale

In an effort to screen all students and staff upon arrival for symptoms of COVID-19 in a timely manner, the Costar 3210HD Thermal Camera series is a state-of-the-art thermographic system boasting both optical and thermal images.  It is non-contact temperature screening that will capture multiple individuals at once (up to 30 at a time).  This feature allows for the efficient flow of traffic and avoiding waiting in lines or non-social distancing environments.

VIII.2. BG 19-202 Secure Entries - Change Order 5

Rationale

These following additional items for John G. Carlisle Elementary and Sixth District Elementary were determined to be needed once school occupied the new office areas.

John G. Carlisle: Add additional voice/data drop. 

Sixth District: Add additional wireless access point and add additional 24 port patch panel.

The total cost for this Change Order work is $3,353.64.

VIII.3. Covington Connect Access Points Agreement ~ 20 W. Southern Avenue

Rationale

The City of Covington's project, Covington Connect will create 125 wi-fi hotspots around the city. Cincinnati Bell will be installing a network of small, discreet wireless access points at evenly distributed spots throughout the City to provide coverage for neighborhoods and business districts. The district's property located at 20 W. Southern Avenue is selected as one of the properties to install an access point. The access point needs to plug into power, but otherwise it is totally free. 

Attached is the Smart City Access Agreement between property owner (the district), Cincinnati Bell and the City of Covington.
