Call to Order
Mr. Alvin Garrison, Superintendent, will call the meeting to order.

Roll Call
Mr. Alvin Garrison, Superintendent, will request roll call.
III.
Pledge of Allegiance
Mr. Alvin Garrison, Superintendent, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
IV.
Election of Board Chair for 2019
The Superintendent shall conduct the election of chairman. The Superintendent shall call for nominations and seconds for the office of chairman, and the member receiving the majority vote of the members present at a roll call vote shall be declared the chairman. The Board member so elected shall assume the chair immediately upon his/her election. The chairman shall serve one (1) year terms beginning immediately following their election.
V.
Election of Board Vice-Chair for 2019
Following the election of the chairman, s/he shall call for nominations and seconds for the office of vice-chairman, and the member receiving a majority vote of the members present at a roll call vote shall be declared the vice-chairman. The vice-chairman shall serve one (1) year terms beginning immediately following their election.

Appoint Board Secretary
The Board Chair will call for a motion to approve Mr. Alvin Garrison being appointed as Board Secretary.

Covington Independent Public School's Committee Selection
April Brockhoff, Jerry Avery and Alvin Garrison will serve on the Budget Committee. Tom Wherry and Alvin Garrison will serve on the Covington Education Foundation Committee. Tom Wherry and Jerry Avery will serve on the Team Foundation Committee. Glenda Huff and Sarah Flerlage will serve on the Calendar Committee. April Brockhoff and Sarah Flerlage will serve on the Student Code of Conduct Committee. Glenda Huff and Jerry Avery will serve on the Local Facility Planning Committee. April Brockhoff was willing to participate on the Local Facility Planning Committee but found out later that Kentucky Department of Education had already approved for Glenda Huff and Jerry Avery to serve on the Local Facility Planning Committee prior to this meeting.

IX.
Appoint School Board Attorney
Adams, Stepner, Woltermann, & Dusing, PLLC provides unique professional legal services arising out of specialized knowledge and skill involving mental and intellectual knowledge, analysis, and experience. As such, this is a professional services contract that is exempt under the Kentucky Model Procurement Code.
Mary Ann Stewart, Esq. of Adams, Stepner, Woltermann, & Dusing will continue to provide general counsel services to the Covington Independent Public School Board. She along with the other attorneys in that Firm are valued team players for the District. Their expertise and efficient assistance in the complexities of school law and other legal areas continues to be an invaluable, essential, and reliable asset to the operation of the School District.
The proposed hourly rate for general legal services will increase by $5.00 per hour compared to 2018 legal service rates. General services rate will be $175.00 and hour and meetings will be $165.00 an hour. The rates will be in effect January 1, 2019 and remain in effect throughout the year.

CIPS Board of Education Travel FY2019
Pursuant to CIPS Policy 01.821 Board Member Expense Reimbursement, it is necessary to obtain Board approval of all out-of-district travel by CIPS Board Members for 2019. All Board travel will qualify for Kentucky School Board Association yearly professional development hours.

Apple Refresh
Ms. Charlene Ball, Assistant Superintendent
The attached lease documents delineates the cost for a total refresh of all MacBooks for students and certified teaching staff at Holmes High School as well as adding enough MacBooks to provide the students and certified teaching staff at Transformational Learning Center (TLC) devices. This lease also affords the district a substantial annual lease payment savings, keeps the device platform common on the campus and provides devices for TLC.
