Mr. Booher presented several happenings recently at PHS. The Class of 2019 set a new record for the highest ACT average for the last time each student took the test with a 22.9 Composite average. ACT pre-test scores indicate good progress for the Class of 2021 as they approach the Junior ACT date. The Academic team got off to a good start, placing 1st at Martin County in Varsity and JV. Ms. Laura Cooley's KYA trip was a successful experience for students with the group receiving great feedback at the event. 49 new security cameras have been installed at PHS to increase security and clarity. As a reward for great ACT/K-Prep scores, students and staff will be treated to lunch at Texas Roadhouse/Peking. The Boys Cross Country team, under the leadership of Adam Collins, finished as the Class A State Runner-Up which is the highest finish ever for a Pikeville High Cross Country team. Harrison Booher and Drew Hurley made the podium at State by placing 11th and 14th respectively. Harrison Booher was named the KHSAA Cross Country Student Athlete of the Year. The Panther Football team finished the regular season undefeated at 10-0 and ranked #1 in the AP Poll. PHS Volleyball player Kaylee Wells was named 2nd Team All-State after an impressive season. 7th Grader Cameron Roberts was named the Region Player of the Year in Boys Golf. And the Girls Junior High Basketball team won the Pike County Championship for the first time since 1989.
