1. Roll Call
2. Review of Mission and Vision Statement
Discussion

Mission and vision were discussed. 

2.1. Mission- Making children Ready for a Changing World
2.2. Vision- Our vision is that every student will gain necessary knowledge and skills to succeed at their highest potential.
2.3. Beliefs- We believe all students can become lifelong learners, thinkers, and productive contributors to our society. It is our responsibility to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn at a high level in a safe and secure learning environment.
3. Approval of Agenda
Actions Taken

Motion Passed:  The motion to approve the current agenda passed with a motion by Mrs. Teresa Combs and a second by Marlene Hamilton and the consensus of the council.

4. Approval of Minutes
Actions Taken

Motion Passed:  The motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting passed with a motion by Mrs. Teresa Combs and a second by Mary Kay Caudill and the consensus of the council.

5. Financial Report
Discussion

Mr. Fugate explained that his password for the MUNIS program to get the financial report has expired and he could not get a report. Everyone that has access at the central office to the program was out of the office for vacation.  


He also explained that the board of education was going to vote on purchasing 2nd grade students Chromebooks and iPads for Kindergarten-1st grade students at the next board meeting.  This would allow all students to have access to a device if the district was forced to close again for COVID-19 in the new school year.

6. New Business
Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed that he had requested an additional teacher for MR-C and this position should be posted soon.  Then the council would look at applicants to interview for the position.


6.1. Council Training
Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed that the SBDM Council training would be all online this year and self paced.  He explained that he would be sending more information and when the training was completed to send him a copy o the completed certificate.

6.2. Student placement
Discussion

The council discussed student placement and where would be the best place for the new teacher.  

7. Review 2020-2021 Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
Discussion

Mr. Fugate explained at this time we do have an update for the CSIP due to school being out due to COVID-19.

Kylan Combs: Grandpartent Essay Winner


Bystal Allen: Going to state for her presentation in the 4-H demonstrations.


Congratulations to these two Redskins!!  Keep up the great work!!

8.1. Choice Boards
Discussion

The teachers across the district in each grade level worked on getting activities together for the students to complete over summer vacations., called Choice Boards.  The Choice Boards were fun activities that promoted getting outside and getting active.  Mr. Fugate stated that he had saw several of MR-C students putting their pictures on Facebook once they had completed the boards.  The council discussed that this was a wonderful way for the students to enjoy their down time away from school.


 


 


 


 



9. Curriculum Update
Discussion

Mr. Fugate explained that Dreambox will be used across the district instead of Aleks.


He also discussed that he was going to talk with the teachers about who would be interested in using Reading A to Z because it is up for renewal and before the school renewed it he wanted to make sure it would be utilized with the students.


Mr. Fugate also discussed that it was a possibility that Study Island could be purchased for use with the students.



10. SBDM Parent Election for 2020-2021 School Year

PTO help the nominations and elections of the parent representatives for the SBDM for the 2020-2021 school year,  The parent representatives will be Teresa Combs and Jamie Mullins-Smith.  Congratulations, ladies!

11. Informational items
Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed the results of the Impact Survey that was completed by the teachers a couple of months ago.  He explained what each category meant and that as a staff we would have to look at improving the areas.


Educating all students: 79%, Managing student behaviors: 77%, School climate: 68%, Staff leadership relationships: 67%, School leadership: 64%, Feedback and coaching: 59%, Professional learning: 45%, and Resources: 45%


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

11.1. Online interviewing
Discussion

Mr. Fugate explained that interviews for the new teaching position would probably have to be conducted online, if not then social distancing would have to be enforced due to COVID-19 regulations.
