2. Review of Mission and Vision Statement
Discussion

Council discussed need to condense vision statement.

3. Approval of Agenda

Motion Passed:  Approval of agenda passed with a motion by Mrs. Teresa Combs and a second by Leah Kay Lovins and the consensus of the council.

4. Approval of Minutes
Actions Taken

Motion Passed:  Approval of minutes passed with a motion by Mary Kay Caudill and a second by Mrs. Teresa Combs and the consensus of the council.

5. New Business
5.1. Class Size
Discussion

Council discussed third grade being four students over cap.  Council also discussed a modification to include a split grade classroom to reduce the number of second grade students in a class.  Council approved both actions.

6. Policy Review- Pick up and Drop off
Actions Taken

Motion Passed:  The council reviewed the Pick up/Drop off Policy. This was the second reading and was passed with a motion by Mrs. Teresa Combs and a second by Leah Kay Lovins and the consensus of the council.

7. Monthly Review of Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP)
Discussion

Mr. Fugate informed council of changes to the development of the new CSIP process.  He will receive more information as part of the KDE cohort 2 trainings that will take place in Lexington.

8. Financial Report
Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed with the council that money has been spent but it is not showing up as being taken out of the budget at this time.

9. Academic Report
Discussion

The council discussed that midterms were sent out.  MAP testing has been completed.  Teachers have shared their tiers during weekly PLC.  Tier letters were sent home to inform parents of their strengths or needs.  MRC had several county spelling, math, and art winners in the academic showcase.

Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed that there had been 2 office referrals in August.  There have already been a few in September also.

12. Informational items
Discussion

Mr. Fugate discussed with the council that a new Writing Policy would need to be developed and approved by December 1st.  The first reading will take place during the October meeting.


Open house will take place on October 24th from 3:30-5:30.  Parents will be given reports cards, MAP data, and KPREP data.
