Received was the FY22 KETS Offer of Assistance. The offer will be $21 per student. It is expected to have three offers total in the approximate amount of $250,000. 7.a. School District Employee COVID-19 Vaccine Incentive Payment

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is providing public schools reimbursement for incentives offered to staff to get vaccinated. KDE will utilize up to $8.8 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds in order to make the reimbursements. All public school employees, both full and part time, will be eligible for a $100 payment after full vaccination. The vaccine incentive program guidelines are as follows:

  • Voluntary program for districts
  • All full and part-time employees are eligible (both certified and classified) if they are employed any time between July 1, 2021 and December 1, 2021.
  • Full and part-time substitute teachers are eligible (minimum workday requirements apply)
  • ALL local Board of Education members are eligible. 
  • Not Eligible: 
    • Students enrolled in any public school
    • SBDM parents
    • Volunteers
  • $100 for vaccinated FY 2021-22 full or part-time school district employees
    • Two doses of Pfizer or Moderna or single-dose of Johnson & Johnson's Janssen
  • To be eligible, employee must be fully vaccinated on or before December 1, 2021. 
  • District must verify employee's vaccination status.
    • Vaccine card or signed statement from licensed provider
  • Payment included in employee's payroll on or before January 31, 2022
  • District will be reimbursed $100 per eligible person verified by the district to participate.
  • Applicable taxes must be withheld; retirement is not withheld
  • The district's share of taxes will be paid by the district rom permissible funds. 
  • Appropriate assurances must be acknowledged by the Superintendent.

Interim District Transportation Director David Phelps requests permission to purchase a total of seven (7) school buses for the 2021-2022 school year. Five (5) of the buses are regular 72-passenger school buses with luggage compartments. Two (2) buses are 52-passenger special needs buses with a luggage compartment, air conditioning, and extra seats. All of the buses will have Cummins 6.7 diesel engines. 7.c. Proposed 2022-2023 School Calendar Option

As per KRS 158.070 (2)(b)(c)(d), the School District Calendar Committee, after seeking feedback from school district employees, parents, and community members, presents a school calendar option to the Board. The calendar option complies with state laws and regulations and considers the economic impact of the school calendar on the community and state. Prior to adopting a school calendar, the Board shall hear the Committee's recommendation and the recommendation of the Superintendent. At a subsequent meeting on December 13, 2021, the Board shall approve a calendar for the upcoming school year.

Bullitt Central High School Principal Joe Pat Lee requests the addition of a Behavior Coach to his staff. This will be a full-time, 7.25 hour a day classified position for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year only. This Behavior Coach will work with Tier 2 and Tier 3 students on behavior modifications and restorative practice. The Behavior Coach will also work with teachers to mediate minor behavior issues, reducing major infractions and keeping students in their learning environments as much as possible. Funding will come from ESSER Learning Forward funds.

Director of School Nutrition Services Todd Crumbacker requests one additional cook/baker position for the schools listed below. This position will be four (4) or five (5) hours a day as indicated and posted immediately upon approval. Due to the USDA allowing the School Nutrition Service Department to serve free meals to all students, there is an increase in meal participation in many schools. These schools have benefited greatly from the flexibility of serving free meals. These positions will be guaranteed for the remainder of the 21-22 school year; a labor analysis will be completed monthly to determine if these positions will be needed for the 22-23 school year. Assistant Superintendent Adrienne Usher requests approval of two job descriptions: Literacy Teacher for Grades 1-2 and Literacy Instructional Assistant I. 

Also requested is approval of those positions, full-time and part-time, for 13 elementary schools.
