Boyd County Board of Education Regular Board Meeting
1. Pursuant to KRS 158.856, Board Policy 07.1 and Board Policy 09.2, there will be a public forum at 5:45 p.m. prior to the regular Board of Education meeting to permit community participation in the student wellness process to present a plan to improve the school nutrition and physical activities in the district with District Food Services Director, Lani Thacker;

6. Linda Day, Current Chairperson, will conduct the Reorganization of the Board by opening the floor for nominations to elect a Chairperson to serve a one-year term for the calendar year, January 2024 through December 2024, as required by Board Policy 01.41 and KRS 160.160;
7. After the election of the Chairperson, the new Chairperson will resume the meeting and open the floor for nominations for Vice Chairperson to serve a one-year term for the calendar year January, 2024 through December, 2024 pursuant to Board Policy 01.41;
8. Student/Staff Presentations/Recognitions
8.1. School Board Recognition Month - January 2024- Senior Judge Marc Rosen, Retired, will read the Proclamation honoring our Board of Education members; Chair, Linda Day; Vice Chair, Randy Stapleton, Jr; and Board Members Mike Blankenship; Cindy Vanhorn and Lisa Wallin.
8.2. Superintendent Boblett and Assistant Superintendent Spade will recognize the following teachers who are newly certified National Board Educators: Jennifer Eerenberg, Kimberly Fitch, Katie Hale, Janice Marcum, Penny Preece, Stephanie Smith, and Tippi Thompson. These teachers were recognized with a reception at Boyd County High School prior to the board meeting;
9. Request to Address Board Chair - Per Board Policy 01.421 and KRS 160.270 (Public Comment) Please keep in mind the Board uses the public comment period as an opportunity to listen to citizen concerns and comments. The board will not debate issues or enter into a question-and-answer dialogue. Under Board policy, your comments are limited to 3 minutes, the Superintendent will track the time.

12.1. Review Superintendent's recommendation to designate Scott Burchett as District Treasurer for the 2024 calendar year;

Review recommendation from Superintendent to approve Change Order No. 11-01 (Contract Change Order Supplemental Information Form to provide itemized pricing for materials and labor) for the Boyd County Career and Technical Center Construction project as presented by Sherman-Carter-Barnhart Architects; (See Attachments)
12.7. Review Superintendent's recommendation to amend Board Policy Procedure 09.36 AP.21 to include event specific emergency action plan(EAP) for use on school sanctioned, non-athletic trips as required by state law; (See Attachments)

Review recommendation of Superintendent to approve the KISTA Participation Resolution as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN EQUIPMENT LEASE AND SECURITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE KENTUCKY INTERLOCAL SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION AND THE BOARD PROVIDING FOR THE ACQUISITION AND LEASING OF SCHOOL BUSES AND APPROVING GENERALLY THE PLAN OF FINANCING THE ACQUISITION OF SCHOOL BUSES FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD and to purchase 1-16+4 Passenger International Corp Special Needs Bus with added equipment and extended warranty, 1-72 Passenger International Corp Regular Bus with added equipment and extended warranty, as listed on the Purchase Orders & warranty quote, for a total cost of Three hundred Twenty-two thousand forty-seven ($322,047.00);(See Attachements)
