7.1.
In Karen Curnutte's absence, Janice Marcum recognized and presented Certificates to the Catlettsburg STLP, Smarty Cats Sponsor, Letitia Rudie, for bringing home a Best in Group for their showcase project at state. The student names are:
Erica Prichard, Muhammad Wadi, Macy Porter and Hailey Lambert (None were present).

Janice Marcum recognized and presented Certificates to the BCHS Boys Track Team for winning First Place at the Rice-Stacey Track and Field Classic held at BCHS. Coach Clayton McClelland spoke of their various achievements. The boys are:

7.3.
Janice Marcum and Aaron Bowling recognized and presented Certificates to the BCHS Choir students who scored Straight Distinguished (unanimously) at the KMEA Choral Festival at Morehead State University April 27th.
7.4.
Janice Marcum and Becky Lynch recognized BCHS student, Serena Brewer, who passed the Culinary Industry exam. This is the first student in Boyd County to pass. Becky Lynch is the High School Classroom Instructor. Mrs. Lynch accepted the Certificate in Serena's absence.
Ms. Brewer successfully completed the standards set forth for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute Conference for Food protection.
7.5.
Janice Marcum recognized and presented a Certificate to Jessica George who has become the first Boyd Co Student and only one of a select few in the state that has earned her CDA Certificate. (Child Development Associate Credential)
In addition to her receiving her CCCC(Commonwealth Child Care Credential), she completed an additional 480 clock hours of experience working with children-infant, toddlers and pre-school-aged children; took a CDA national exam, had a site visit with observations , interviews and a portfolio requirement. She has been recognized by the National CDA Council for Professional Recognition. She has set the path and bar for future students, a true leader. Classroom Instructor, Janet Runnels, was present with Ms. George.
7.6.
Janice Marcum recognized and presented a Certificate to Sahvannah McDowell who won 1st place in Prepared Speech at the State KY Skills USA Conference in Louisville on April 21 2017. She has qualified and will represent Boyd Co. at the National Skills USA Conference competing in prepared speech also in Louisville this June under the direction of her advisor, Julie Criss. Mrs. Criss was present with Ms. McDowell.
7.7.
Janice Marcum recognized and presented Certificates to our School Nurses in honor of National Nurse Appreciation Week (May 8-12, 2017). Teresa Crooks and Belinda Gauze (both present).
