Superintendent, Don Neal shared that Wayne County School District had numerous holiday programs-Walking in Walker Wonderland (Literacy Nights). Bell Tones Choir performed at Pickrell Auditorium and also at the Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Square. Monticello Elementary held Monticello Literacy Night with Santa.

Mr. Neal also shared Middle School held Science fair and winners displaying projects in the gym. FCA/JROTC with the high school served almost 900 meals to the needy at Thanksgiving. 

Mr. Brian Dishman, Assistant Superintendent shared about the Comprehensive Improvement Plan he stated it is revised each year and considered for approval by the board in December. It is made up of six state required goals that were matched up with the district's accountability data released this fall to match student needs. The instructional plan includes activities that occur on a day-to-day basis to help enhance instruction.

One of the highlights in the instruction report was that out of 134 kindergarten through third graders who were being served with reading intervention (pull out) plans there were 51 that were able to exit out of that program because they no longer were in danger of any long-term conditions. The kindergarten and first graders made remarkable strides with almost 100 percent exiting the intervention services. This spring, the remaining students will receive the intervention services to help them improve.
