Rationale

A motion to appoint Mr. Abell to act in place of Mr. Adams for tonight’s meeting.

3. STATEMENT OF BOARD MISSION
Rationale

The Spencer County Board of Education, in partnership with and in service to our community, will support our school district in engaging every student with challenging and meaningful work that will result in high levels of learning.

4. REVIEW AND ADOPT AGENDA
Rationale

This is a special meeting, so no new items can be added to the agenda for discussion or action

5. BOARD MEMBER RESIGNATION
Rationale

A motion to receive and record the resignation of Jeanie Stevens from membership on the Board of Education, consistent with KRS 63.010 and KRS 160.190

6. BOARD VACANCY
Rationale

A motion pursuant to KRS 160.190(1) to declare the occurrence of a board vacancy as of May 10, 2021, and to invoke and implement the advertising and notice requirements of Board Policy 01.3 and KRS 160.190(1).

7. DISCUSSION OF BOARD OFFICER ELECTION
Rationale

Board Policies 01.41 and 01.411 do not contemplate the resignation of a Board officer.  Board Policy 01.411 requires the vice chairperson to perform the duties of the chairperson in the absence of the chairperson but does not state that the vice chairperson automatically becomes chairperson when a vacancy occurs.  The Board attorney has recommended that officer elections be held at the next regular meeting to finish the current term as chairperson and vice chairperson until the January following the next Board member elections.

Rationale

After discussing personnel in closed session, the Board may entertain a motion relating to personnel.

Rationale

After discussing litigation in closed session, the Board may entertain a motion relating to pending litigation.
