In preparation for the 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 school calendar the board must appoint an individual to serve as the board representative on the calendar committee per KRS 158.070 (2b).  Attached you have a memo from Mr. Compton regarding this request.  If you have any questions he would be happy to answer those.

Mr. Kevin Barnard was the board's representative on this committee this past year.  I would recommend that the board again approve Mr. Barnard to serve as the school calendar committee board representative.

The director of special education and the staff at the school will continue to work closely with the student, the family, and other pertinent professionals in an effort to gradually increase the number of days per week, as appropriate, given his/her individual situation.

I recommend the board approve a shortened school week for these students at this time.

Attached is a memo from Mr. Compton, Assistant Superintendent, with an agreement between the Wool Festival and the Pendleton County Schools for the use of 2 Pendleton County buses on Friday, October 2nd and for the use of 12 Pendleton County buses on Saturday, October 3rd and Sunday, October 4th.  This is the same agreement we have entered into in the past.

I would recommend approval of the Wool Fest agreement.

Attached is the proposed Community Relations Coordinator job description.  Approval of the job description will establish clear responsibilities for supporting district communication, family engagement, and public relations. Formal adoption ensures alignment with district priorities and provides the structure needed for recruitment. If approved, this position will be added to the existing salary schedule.

Diligent efforts were made to recruit fully and highly qualified teachers for Pendleton County Schools.  However, when a fully certified teacher cannot be located for a particular position, leeway from the EPSB and the KDE has been granted to school districts to hire teachers under an emergency certificate. 

I am recommending approval of the attached emergency certification for the 2026-27 school year.
