II. Action Agenda
II.A. Award Bid--Sharp Middle School Project
Rationale

Attached is information from Robert Ehmet Hayes and Associates regarding the Sharp Middle School Renovation and Stadium project.

After reviewing the attached bid tabulation and evaluation documents I recommend we award the Base bid, Alternate #1, Alternate #3, Alternate #4, and Alternate #6 to Morel Construction.  Morel Construction was the lowest and best bidder.

In addition, we have received a proposal from The Motz Group with a base bid for the synthetic turf system and an alternate for a pad.  These items would be purchased on a state cooperative contract.

All of the items above have been added to the updated BG-1 which is attached.  This brings the total construction cost to $8,608,921.  I would recommend the board approve all of the information as outlined above and shown on the updated BG-1.

Order #23-10298 - Motion Passed:  Superintendent Buerkley's recommendation to accept the bid for the Sharp Middle School Project as presented passed with a motion by Mrs. Amber Beebe and a second by Mr. Derek Brown.

II.B. Emergency Certification
Rationale

Attached is a memo from our Director of Finance and Human Resources, Mrs. Jennifer Pierce,  regarding approval of an emergency certification request for a new hire.

Efforts were made to recruit fully and highly-qualified teachers for Pendleton County Schools.  However, when a fully-certified teacher cannot be located for a position, leeway from the EPSB and the KDE has been granted to school districts to hire teachers under an emergency certificate.

All employees are aware they must seek educational courses before being fully certified or before any opportunities for future employment may be granted.  Also, please keep in mind many of these employees may obtain certification through other means, such as a temporary provisional certificate by enrolling into a MAT program and obtaining full Kentucky certification prior to September 15th.  If this occurs we will not utilize the emergency certification route.

If you have any questions I would be happy to answer those at this time, otherwise I would recommend approval of the emergency certification requests as presented.
