VI.A.1.
TNHS Football
Installation of cabinets in the football concession area:
There will be no electrical work involved and no other alterations to the space except for the installation of lower cabinets and two shelves for microwaves. Currently, there is no storage, counter space or food preparation areas in the concessions. There are two walls where we are proposing cabinets be installed. One is to the right when entering the area and the other is straight ahead in the center of the area (see photos.) Both are concrete walls. Completion of this project will allow for proper food preparation space, storage and display space. This area is inspected by the Health Department therefore, proper food preparation space is needed.
VI.A.2.
TNHS Soccer
Installation of cabinets and shelving in Soccer Building:
We would like to install a base cabinet with counter attached for food processing and storage. We would also like to add plastic coated steel shelving on the wall above the cabinet area. Installation would be performed by TNHS boys/girls soccer booster parents. The cabinet and counter top will be donated by a local cabinet shop, M&H Custom Cabinets. It was built from material left over from another project. The shelving will be purchased from Lowe’s by the two booster clubs.
VI.A.3.
TNHS Golf
10' x 10' storage building for golf complex tools and golf equipment to maintain grounds to be built by NCHS carpentry class.
15' x 30' covered area (concrete) made of 6" x 12' post and sheet metal roof for sun and rain protection while practice is being conducted. Concrete slab is already poured. Labor provided by boosters and licensed carpenters.
Project Cost Estimate: $1,000.00 storage building; $500.00 covered area
Funding Source: Golf Boosters
VI.A.4.
Boston Trail
The project is to construct a walking bridge over a creek on the Boston Trail, a community trail owned by the Nelson County School District and located behind the Boston School. Currently the creek is bridged with gravel that washes away when water backs up during rainstorms. The project will include recruiting the volunteer service of the school district's maintenance crew to clear the gravel from the creek bed and set it beside the creek for a ramp and orchestrating the construction of a walking bridge using materials that will be donated and the volunteer service of scouts from the troop, former scouts from the troop, and parents of scouts in the troop. Volunteers will meet to build the walking bridge and then the school district's maintenance crew will have the bridge delivered to the path next to the creek. Volunteers will install it and anchor the bridge to the ground and use the gravel previously set aside to make a handicap accessible ramp. A plaque will be added denoting where the donations came from. A couple of adult volunteers will test the bridge to make sure it is sturdy, level, and handicap accessible.

Tim Beck
As required by Senate Bill 1, all Nelson County schools are required to complete Program Reviews as part of a new assessment and accountability model in the areas of Writing, Arts & Humanities, and Practical Living/Career Studies, and a Next Step Diagnostic Review. School with Primary Programs must also complete an additional review of their K-3 program. After completing, each school must have their review approved at the district level before it can be submitted to KDE. The District has received verification from KDE that all approved Program Reviews from Nelson Count have now been process through the ASSIST website. All finalized program reviews will be posted on each school’s website by July 1, 2013, for community review.
