Representatives from Studio Kremer and BCD, Inc. will update current status of renovations and additions at Foster Heights Elementary as well as progress for Thomas Nelson High School, NCHS Athletic Renovations, new Preschool and any other construction projects.

Change Order # 10: FH Phase II

After a review of existing roof conditions it was determined that a specified roof ladder could be eliminated without lose of access. With ladder deletion a credit of $363.00 from Cundiff Steel was realized.
Motion Passed: Action to approve Change Order #10, Foster Heights Phase II, was passed with a motion by Mr. Nicky Rapier and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

Change Order # 12: FH Phase II

The multi-purpose room was re-configured to better meet the needs of school staff. With changes various credits resulted. With the elimination of a door a labor credit of $81.00 for installation was realized from BCD, Inc.

Change Order # 16: NCHS Athletic Renovation

It was decided to replace existing galvanized fence, which was in poor condition, between the student parking lot and the athletic field adjacent to visitor bleachers. It was also decided that fencing mater would be black vinyl rather than galvanized. Professional Fence Company will provide all labor for a cost of $6,378.00.
Motion Passed: Action to approve Change Order #12, Nelson County High School Athletic Renovation, was passed with a motion by Mr. Nicky Rapier and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

Change Order # 17: NCHS Athletic Renovation

It was decided to replace the existing galvanized fence, which was in poor condition, between the student parking lot and the athletic field adjacent to the visitor bleachers. It was also decided that fence material would be black vinyl rather than galvanized. Stephens Pipe & Steel will provide all materials for a cot of $6,081.00.

Change Order # 18: NCHS Athletic Renovation

Existing runways for triple and long jumps would not be within KHSAA standards after the top rubberized surface was applied. In order to bring runways within requirements the existing was removed and replaced with concrete. BCD, Inc. will provide all labor and materials for a cost of $10,302.00.
Motion Passed: Action to approve Change Order #18, Nelson County High School Athletic Renovation, was passed with a motion by Mr. Nicky Rapier and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

Change Order # 48: TNHS

The over head doors located at the multi-purpose room were changed from electric to manual operation. With this change a credit of $4,789.78 was realized from M&J Construction, Inc.
Motion Passed: Action to approve Change Order #48, Thomas Nelson High School, was passed with a motion by Mr. Damon Jackey and a second by Mr. Nicky Rapier.

Change Order # 49: TNHS

Power was provided for irrigation controls and garbage disposer. Also included in Change Order #49 was rough in for overhead door power. Alternative Electric can provide all labor and materials for a cost of $3,257.00.

Change Order # 50: TNHS

Two hydronic valves were installed to enable maintenance staff to make future repairs without draining the entire system. Knight’s Mechanical will provide all labor and materials for a cost of $1,810.00.

Change Order # 14: TNHS Phase II

The parapet was raised at the north and south edge of the cafeteria monitor in order to coordinate with the roof insulation height and to match the monitor at the library area. Bennett’s Carpets will provide all labor and materials for a cost of $786.22.

Extra Duty Salary Schedule

Recommendation: that the Nelson County Board of Education approve the attached extra duty pay schedule for 2012-2013.This schedule is also recommended for new hires for the remainder of 2011-2012.
Motion Withdrawn: Action to approve the Extra Duty Salary Schedule as presented for 2012-2013 as well as for new hires for the remainder of 2011-2012 was was withdrawn by Mr. Nicky Rapier.

The Nelson County Board of Education received an offer from Nelson County Baptist Church to purchase the former Old Kentucky Home Intermediate building. The recommendation at this time is to reject this offer.
Motion Passed: Action to reject the purchase offer from the Nelson County Baptist Church for the former Old Kentucky Home Intermediate building was passed with a motion by Mr. Nicky Rapier and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

District Improvement Plan

Each year the district instructional team prepares a “District Improvement Plan (DIP)”. The purpose is to provide district goals, strategies, and action steps in order to increase student achievement.
After receiving the ACT, ITBS, NCLB, KCCT, and College/Career Readiness data, goals for the district were developed. Strategies and action steps to meet the district’s goals were then written. The proposed 2011-2012 District Improvement Plan will be presented to the Board of Education for approval.

Spring 2011 NCLB/KCCT Assessment Results

Our Nelson County students completed a battery of assessments in May 2011. Individual school and district data from those assessments will be presented. The presentation will include the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Kentucky Core Content Test (KCCT) results.

2011 College and Career Assessment Results

The Nelson County Schools’ College and Career Readiness data has been released from the Kentucky Department of Education. The Board members will be provided with a presentation of the district’s results.
