The terminology on the following positions was updated, with reference to KIRIS (replaced with formative and summative assessments) and site-based (replaced by school based council) changed. Added are references to Rtl’s and ILP’s for modified instruction and services for students. Working with newly created Athletic Director (for elementary & middle) was included. Other changes were included to make terminology parallel and consistent throughout each description. No major responsibilities added or deleted in any—just updated.

Approval of Construction Drawings for renovation/additions to Foster Heights School:
Board approval is required for the completed construction drawings for the above referenced project.
Motion Passed: Action to approve the Foster Heights renovation/construction documents as presented was passed with a motion by Mr. Larry Pate and a second by Mr. Nicky Rapier.

Foster Hts./OKHIS: Plan for Reuniting
The beginning phases of construction for the reuniting of the two schools has resulted in a review of the most effective use of resources and facilities that contribute to school culture, instruction, and assessment for the students at Foster Heights Elementary and Old Kentucky Home Intermediate Schools during the 2009-2010 school year transition phase.
The principals of both buildings would like to make the recommendation that Foster Heights Elementary and Old Kentucky Home Intermediate schools be reunited and operate as one beginning with the 2009-2010 fiscal year in order for the school to operate in the most effective and efficient manner.
Motion Passed: Action to approve the plan for reuniting Foster Heights and Old Kentucky Home Intermediate Schools under one roof and administration was passed with a motion by Mr. Adam Wheatley and a second by Mr. Damon Jackey.

Because of recent inclement weather, the following changes to the 2008-2009 calendar are recommended:

In addition, please note that graduation dates will be adjusted accordingly to June 2nd, pending no additional calendar changes.

OKHMS Emergency Day
On Monday, January 12, Old Kentucky Home Middle School suffered an electrical service failure. At that point school for OKHM students was canceled for that day. A request for a disaster day may be submitted to the Commissioner Education for approval. A copy of the local board order shall accompany this request.
Motion Passed: Action to approve submission of a request to the Commissioner of Education for the allowance of one disaster day for Old Kentucky Home Middle School was passed with a motion by Mr. Damon Jackey and a second by Mr. Larry Pate.

On-Demand Writing Assessment
Curriculum Resource Consultants will provide an overview regarding On-Demand writing practices in our district. The presentation will include an explanation of how On-Demand differs from Open Response questions used in classrooms as well as CATS testing.

Grants
VII.B.1.
Mental Health Grant
Funded through the U.S. Department of Education Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, this grant opportunity is designed to increase student access to quality mental health care by linking local school systems with the local mental health system. Our project will be designed to improve collaborative efforts between school-based services and community services in specific areas of need; enhance the availability of crisis intervention services and appropriate referrals for students; and provide training for those participating in delivery of services. This grant will not provide funds for direct services to students. This grant will fund up to $400,000 with no match for a project period of 24-months.
