To date, there have been a total of 330 online APEX courses completed by students of The Academy, with 104 courses complete this semester.
At the BETA convention that was held in Lexington, Bloomfield Elementary had the following students who placed:
5th place Math- Charles Buckman
4th place Book Battle: Caden Hardin, Cheyenne Bailey, Jacob Willett
National Qualifiers include:
3rd place Science- Carsen Keeling
3rd place Language Arts- Alli O'Bryan
3rd place Advertising Design- Addie Avis and Alivia Morris
3rd place Banner- Emily Sanders, Alivia Morris, and Scarlettann Williams
3rd place t-shirt design- Scarlettann Williams
Bloomfield Middle School STLP will be competing in the state championship on March 29th.
7th & 8th grade Band will be competing on March 28th in Hardin County.
The Boston Middle School team advances Sawyer Boone to compete in the math assessment on March 17th. Our elementary academic team took 2nd overall in the district governor’s cup on February 10th. The FPS team which includes: Cade Benningfield, Brenin Ford-Pedigo, Kinsi Floyd and Wyatt Carter, took 1st place. Addisyn Cull placed 5th, Sophia Pimentel-Tonche placed 2nd and Charles Bowling place 1st in written composition. Kinsi Floyd placed 5th in math. Brianna Cothern placed 3rd and Jonathan Jimision placed 4th in language arts. Chloe Hall placed 5th in Arts and Humanities. The FPS team took 3rd place in regional FPS competition earlier this month.
Cox's Creek Elementary raised over $1,200 for the WHAS Crusade for Children. The Future Problem Solvers placed first in the district competition. Every grade level is implementing a spring project based learning unit. Some of these include an Entrepreneur Fair, an area and perimeter unit where students will create a garden for our school, and a 5th Grade Writing/Art showcase.
Students at the Early Learning Center enjoyed going on Leprechaun hunts; searching for the pot of gold. Ms. Katie's class found all the clues with rhyming words and their pot of gold was hidden in the classroom. Ms. Krista and Ms. Jessica's class is learning to add and subtract with dice and Cat in the Hat.
Students are enjoying taking a book home to read with family from our Lending Library. Our Lending Library was made possible through the WHAS Grant and we are thankful for their support.
Foster Heights 1st grade students in Mrs. Miles and Catanzarito's class participated in passion projects requiring them to research a topic of their choice and present their learning to their peers and Foster Heights families.
Congratulations to NCHS student, Laurel Philpott, who was invited to attend Craft and Gatton Academies. Laurel will attend Gatton in the fall.
New Haven will host STEAM day on the Friday before spring break. Students will spend the day traveling around the school visiting various STEAM centers.
Kaileigh Ervin earned first place on the Arts and Humanities written assessment and Lawson Strenecky earned second place on the Social Studies written assessment at the regional academic team competition. They both will move on to compete at the state level on Sunday, March 18. Reagan Trzop was chosen by Mrs. Potter to represent Family Resource as a Legislative Page in Frankfort on March 1st.
Zachary Moore and Skylar Herron advanced as individuals to the Archery State Tournament.
Congratulations to Meridith Bradford who will be representing Thomas Nelson High School at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership conference this June.
