Rationale

Update for all current construction projects which include the following: renovation of Nelson County High School, renovation of the high school athletic facilities, the Vocational School renovation, the status of the additional high school, and the renovation/addition. of Foster Heights School.
Representatives from Studio Kremer and BCD, Inc. will discuss all current renovations and additions at Nelson County High School and the Vocational School.

Rationale

A variety of changes to the Vocational School HVAC system were implemented to improve efficiency.  As a result of those changes a credit of $8,485 was realized from Walker Mechanical Contractors, Inc.  After all change orders are completed involving the Vocational School HVAC system, a net increase of $280.00 will result

Rationale

A variety of changes to the Vocational School HVAC system were implemented to improve efficiency.  As a result of those changes a credit of $12,220.00 from Trane Equipment was realized.  After all change orders are completed involving the Vocational School HVAC, a net increase of $280.00 will result.

Rationale

Rationale

Change Order #36 involves a variety of issue consisting of additional fixtures in reception area, conduit for gymnasium microphone, changes in Vocational School HVAC, installation of fire alarm, and changing location of a cable tray.  J George Electric will provide all materials and labor at a cost of $7,793.00.

Rationale

The multipurpose room is required by code to have a fire alarm system. Interstate Security Systems can supply materials for a cost of $1,207.00.

V.B.6. Change Order # 38: Vocational School
Rationale

To provide a more efficient teaching environment the following were requested for the HVAC shop area at the Vocational School: electrical disconnects on back and side walls, enlargement of an existing vent, and stub a new gas line for future use.  Walker Mechanical will provide all labor and materials at a cost of $1485.00.

After additional explanation from the State Inspector, it was required to update the existing fire alarm system at the Vocational School.  J George Electric can provide all materials and labor for the necessary wiring for a cost of $8,167.00.

Rationale

V.B.9. Change Order # 41: Nelson County High/Vocational School
Rationale

A receptacle was added to automotive shop area while additional light fixtures were added to four classrooms at the vocational school.  Cost for this portion of change order is $20,730.  The bulk of the change order, $42,827, is to provide and install 82 light fixtures in the high school auditorium.  J George Electric will complete all work and provide materials for a total cost of $63,557.00.

Rationale

Additional volleyball inserts were requested in order to use the gym facilities more efficiently.  After credits were deducted, Conrad Floors, Inc. will provide all labor and materials to install five new insets and remove two existing for a cost of $1500.00.

V.E. Memorandum of Agreement: Support for Military Families
Rationale

The intent of the MOA is to invite school systems that serve military-connected children to join together in committing to a set of guiding principles. The guiding principle are designed to encourage and support schools as they work together to increase the likelihood of predictability for mobile students. The agreement supports the policy passed in regards to the support of military families.

VI.B. NCLB/ACT Results
Rationale

No Child Left Behind / Adequate Yearly Progress Report 
Nelson County met 11 out of 13 target goals (85%).  The district report is included in the packet and a presentation will include individual school data.  An attachment includes a college readiness report which reflects the achievement of NCHS graduates who have taken the ACT.
