New Haven:
Amber Grace (NHS 8th grader) won the title of the 2007 Iron Horse Festival Princess.The State 4-H Junior Field Day was held on September 17, 2007 at Mammoth Cave State Park.  New Haven School’s students won the following awards:
Marilyn Rogers – 1st place in the Tree Measuring categorySean Burnett – 3rd place in the Tree Identification category, 3rd place in the Tree Measuring category, 3rd Place OVER-ALL
NCHS:
The NCHS Drama Department is pleased to announce the third annual Senior Class Production “The Clock Struck Twelve” by James Reach, on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM.  Admission is a donation.
Congratulations to Guy Fulkerson who was selected by the faculty to receive the DAR Good Citizen Award!Several Nelson County students participated in the 4th district chorus: Alicia Lynch, Shelby Fessenden, Susan Livers, Ashley Holt, Tracy Carmicle, Clara Stivers, Shelby Cundiff, Josh Rogers, Katie Hazelwood, Tiffany Simpson, Will Brooks, Amanda Kurtz, Lindsay Roush, Daniel Kennedy, Maressa Coley, Fannah Switzer, & Meredith Reid.
The Drama II Class at Nelson County High School will be presenting the classic tale, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland on Monday October 1
The Volleyball team was District Champion.
Lady Cardinal Soccer team placed 2nd in district competition.

Blazer Football was runner up in the conference tournament play
Teacher Jennifer Logsdon, through a grant from KAYRE, was able to take a group of 52 students to the Louisville Zoo for an instructional trip, focusing on science. 
OKHMS:
OKHMS is holding a Halloween dance to benefit Eli Hutchins’ family October19. The football team won a championship.
Science students attended the Challenger Learning Center over fall break.
An Accelerated Reader Skating Party reward will be held next Thursday.  The 8th grade has drastic improvement in students who reached their AR goals.
Dr. Janice Lantz was recognized as Administrator of the Year by the Kentucky World Language Association.

Rationale

Foster Heights is seeking $15,000 in grant funding through participation in an "Interwrite Learning Contest" sponsored by Interwrite Learning. this contest involves the creation of a music video in which a teacher and at least one student will perform a song parody that demonstrates how different kinds of technology are being used in the classroom.
