4. KSBA First Degree Scholarship Program

For the 10th consecutive year, the Kentucky School Boards Association will provide two $2,500 college scholarships to members of the Class of 2021. Nominations of one male and/or one female student per public school district are selected by the school board and must be from an immediate family whose members have not earned a college degree.



The names of two male and two female applicants will be drawn at the KSBA Board of Directors meeting in early December and selectees will be announced during KSBA’s Annual Conference in Louisville, Feb. 19-21.

October 19th through the 23rd is Retired Teachers Appreciation Week and express our gratitude for the service they have provided over the years.

6. COVID Impact Updates

Mrs. Amy Ramage presented: the ongoing consultation and collaboration with the Pennyrile District Health Department regarding positive cases and exposures; public notification of confirmed positive cases; daily updates of quarantines for students and staff; communications with the local hospital system(s) to understand the capacities of the local health care system; the plans to continue the current hybrid alternating schedule; and initial feedback related to the return of daily in-person instruction.

The district planning committee is tasked with reviewing and revising the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan (CDIP) on an annual basis.  This committee, as established last year, will review the current goals (these are 3 to 5 year goals) as established, and revise plans and conduct needs assessment to help focus efforts to meet these goals.

The Livingston County School District was provided a letter from KDE concerning the 2020 preschool program.  The “Annual Determination” letter serves as a public acknowledgement that the preschool program has completed the annual preschool proposal, as is required by KRS 157.3175. Based on the performance review of Livingston County School District Preschool Program, the district’s overall 2020 Annual Preschool Program Determination is Meets Requirements.

24. Discussion of Superintendent's Evaluation

Board Policy 02.14 outlines the evaluation process of the superintendent.  The policy states, in part, "The summative evaluation of the Superintendent shall be discussed and adopted in an open meeting of the Board and reflected in the minutes"  

The superintendent's evaluation was adopted in a previous open meeting, however, the discussion during the open meeting did not take place.

Mrs. Thompson presented the following:

      The board of education of the Livingston County School District has completed the annual evaluation of Superintendent Zimmerman for the 2019-2020 school year. The past year has been a positive one/challenging one for education in our school district. All five school board members have served on the board for at least one full year and have been able to observe and be a part of the successes achieved this year.  

      The evaluation focused on seven standards of performance as well as goals for the district agreed on by the board and superintendent.

       Superintendent Zimmerman received a rating of accomplished in the area of strategic leadership. In the standards of instructional leadership, cultural leadership and human resource leadership the board rated his performance as developing.  Managerial leadership received a growth required. Collaborative leadership and influential leadership received a rating of developing.  

     The board will be working with Superintendent Zimmerman to develop goals for our district for the 2020-21 year. We look forward to working together to make our school district successful.
