Job Descriptions need to be Board approved.  We have some job titles on the salary schedule that do not correspond to any job descriptions.  The proposed salary schedule includes the updated positions/job descriptions.  This will align the job descriptions with the salary schedules.

From KSBA: We are enclosing your district’s customized 2019 policy update (#42) and if applicable procedure update (#23) and the related checklists. Proposed changes reflect new legal requirements, as well as “best practice” recommendations from KSBA.

Mr. Wood shared concerns about imposing religion upon others (included in policy update 01.11).  Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Thompson shared concerns about the funding involved to implement the policy/KRS.

1- Classified salary schedule has "steps" where employees receive pay increases about every four years.  The increases for each step are random and typically minimal.  The revised/proposed salary schedule includes about a 5% increase for every "step" for most of the positions.  The Transportation Manager, Office Manager, and Mechanic receive $1/hr increases for CDL and $1/hr increases for bus inspection/training endorsements.  These $1/hr increases have been included in their salaries and are no longer add-ons. The System Developer's days are reduced from 250 to 240 with the hourly pay increased to maintain the total yearly salary, Accounting Manager/Treasurer is a new position to replace an existing position with added responsibilities.  The salary for this position includes the Treasurer stipend.

2- Certified salary schedule- it was mentioned in the last board meeting that our teacher salaries are competitive with Lyon, Crittenden, and even Marshall County. McCracken County is the highest paying when we get to the high end of the salary schedule.  The first steps in the certified salary schedule provide healthy increases in salaries (over 5% each step).  The last two or three steps are relatively small increases in salary.  5% increases for the last two or three steps would make our salary schedule comparable to McCracken County for the experienced teachers.

3- The Extra Service Salary schedule has only minor changes/revisions, including the removal of the Treasurer stipend which has been imbedded in the salary aforementioned.
