3. Legislative Update
Rationale

  1. Charter Schools will pass. As of now it 2 charter schools in Jefferson County and 2 charter schools in Fayette County.
  2. TRS will change. Current contributors should not see a change. Newly employed teachers will have a 401k instead of defined pension.
  3. Governor has signed into law the repeal of prevailing wage on public projects.
  4. The Right To Work has become law.
  5. Five days of the session have been completed. The general assembly will now recess for 4 weeks before returning.
  6. In September, there will be a special legislative session. The tax code will be overhauled to reflect a consumption based tax code.

 

4. Local Planning Committee
Rationale

Will meet on January 16 at 5:00pm for a Public Hearing concerning facilities.

Regular Local Planning Committee meeting will follow at 5:30pm.

Our bonding agent will share financial details at the regular meeting.

5. Student Support Center Employee of the Month
Rationale

Starts January 2017

Will be honored during regular board meeting.

Will be allowed to park in the Employee of the Month parking space.

6. Lincoln County Schools Leadership Retreat
Rationale

Hyatt Regency Downtown - Louisville, KY

Arrive Sunday July 23rd.

Monday July 24th - 8:00am - 4:00pm

Tuesday July 25th - 8:00am - 4:00pm

Wednesday July 26th - 8:00am-12:00pm

A room has been reserved for each member of Cabinet.

7. Bid Proposals Link On District Website
Rationale

We will start placing all Bid Proposals on our school website.

 

8. Better School Spending
Rationale

I have asked Mrs. Abel, Mrs. Cain, Mrs. Risden-Smith and Mr. Ward to travel with me to attend our first Better School Spending meeting in London.

9. SBDM/Advisory Councils & Board of Education Work Sessions
Rationale

The following 5 questions will serve as starter questions for board members to ask SBDM Councils during the SBDM Councils & Board of Education Work Sessions. The 5 questions are just starter questions and Board Members are free to ask any question.

1) What are points of celebration for your school?

2) What are the goals of your school?

2) How does your school ensure academic growth?

4) What did not work for your school last year?

5) How can the Board of Education help support your school?

The following SBDM Councils will meet with the board of education at a special called meeting on Thursday March 2nd at 5:30pm:

Crab Orchard Elementary, Highland Elementary, Hustonville Elementary, McKinney Elementary

The following SBDM Councils/Advisory Councils will meet with the board of education at a special called meeting on date to be determined later at 5:30pm:

Stanford Elementary School, Lincoln County Middle School, Lincoln County High School (Advisory Council)

Board members will spend 10 minutes with each council asking questions before rotating to the next council.
