Public Comments
The Franklin County Board of Education has provided time in its agenda for individuals to make comments. Comments to the Board will be allowed up to a maximum of three (3) minutes. The Board does not allow comments on any matter dealing with personnel issues. Kentucky law states specifically that personnel matters are the responsibility of the Superintendent. On all personnel matters, you should contact the Superintendent of Schools. No questions, comments, or decisions/action related to public comments will be made by Board members at this time, unless the specific topic is on the agenda; however, the Board will listen to the comments and/or suggestions which may lead to a discussion of same at a future meeting. If an individual wishes for the Board to discuss and/or take action on a particular issue, they must follow the procedures outlined in Franklin County Board of Education Policy 10.2. The Superintendent or the designee will be able to assist in this request.

The revised 2023-2024 calendar is attached for approval. An additional staff day on April 19th has been added. Students will not make this day up.

Preschool Partnership Grant 2024
The Preschool Partnership Grant application is attached for approval. The grant opportunity is designed to assist public school districts and childcare providers to develop year round programs outside of the school setting. The funding amount is $300,000 over an eighteen-month grant period.

Lady Softball Flyers Out of State Trip-FCHS
The FCHS Softball team requests approval for out-of-state travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama over spring break (March 30-April 6, 2024) to participate in multiple games with local area schools. Each student will be transported by their own parents and lodging will be at the Phoenix Condominiums located at 24250 Perdido Beach Blvd, Orange Beach, AL 36561. The trip is funded by the FCHS Softball boosters.
Attached is the safety plan for the trip for your reference.

Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference-FCHS
Franklin County High School requests approval to send one student (2023-2024 sophomore) to the summer Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference. The conference will be held June 6-9, 2024 on the campus of Berea College in Berea, KY. Students do stay overnight at the Berea campus. FCHS selects one representative to attend the summer leadership conference. Registration fee of $395 is paid by the Franklin County Schools Guidance Funds. The parent is responsible for transportation to and from the conference. Supervision is by the HOBY Leadership Conference Staff.
