Rationale

The Owensboro Human Relations Commission (OHRC) was created by ordinance in 1972 and last updated in 2001. The proposed amendments will ensure the OHRC remains compliant with state law, updates membership qualifications and terms, and defines current operating procedures.

Rationale

The City of Owensboro owns real property located at 3140 Fairview Drive and desires to declare a portion of this property consisting of tracts containing a total of 0.067 acres to be surplus property, so they can be sold to the Commonwealth for the improvement of Fairview Drive. The City also desires to grant permanent and temporary easements to the Commonwealth over and across portions of its property to allow for the improvement project.

Rationale

700 Frederica Street LLC is the owner of real property located at 700 Frederica Street (hereafter “the Property”). The Property owners intend to develop the Property by building sixteen (16) residential units, which will have substantial benefit to the citizens of Owensboro, and the City desires to provide an incentive for 700 Frederica Street LLC to develop the Property.

(RCP) for the purpose of locating and constructing a pickleball facility within Ben Hawes Park. The City and RCP desire to amend their Partnership Agreement to make various changes including extending its term and modifying the parties’ funding obligations

Rationale

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has FY 2027 grant funds available to communities for public works, economic development and infrastructure improvements under the Economic Development Initiatives program of the Community Development Fund. The City needs funding for various public works, economic development and infrastructure improvement projects, including but not limited to the stabilization of approximately 500 linear feet of the Ohio River riverbank from McConnell Plaza to the Kentucky Legend Pier in downtown Owensboro, development of the Massie site and The Landing.

Rationale

Members of the audience may address the Board of Commissioners on any matter of public concern that was not on the agenda.  Comments are limited to issues within the scope and responsibility of the Commission. Commission meetings are held to conduct city business for the benefit of Owensboro citizens and taxpayers. 

At this time, anyone who wishes to address the City Commission please make their way to the podium to be recognized.  Speakers must state their name and address for the Clerk’s record, and limit their remarks to three (3) minutes or less.  Since the item is not on the agenda, no response is required from staff or the Board of Commissioners.  The Mayor reserves the right to extend time to the speaker.
