| I. Accessibility Project Report - G. Scott & Associates, Architects PLC | G. Scott Architects - Craig Aossey |
| a. APPROVAL - BG 26-299 Summer 2026 - Partial Roof; Sidewalk | |
Rationale:
Craig Aossey is seeking the Board’s approval of final design and permission to advertise for bid on the sidewalk bid package.
Attached is the drawing for the sidewalk and ramp being proposed. The hillside is steeper at the bottom and your existing wall is too steep to meet accessible route requirements as a sidewalk. We propose to replace this lower section with a ramp at 1:12 pitch with handrails and then extend up the hillside at a 1:20 slope which is an acceptable sidewalk pitch per accessibility standards. This will allow us to tie in to your existing drinking fountain and water bottle filler pad elevations at the top of the hill and continue around the front of the building with some grading to make this an accessible connection at your front walk.
Upon board approval tonight, GSA will then advertise and collect bids for this work in order to return to the Board at the July 29th meeting with a recommendation for the Board to consider accepting in order to move forward with the work.
Based upon our Board Meeting schedule, Craig has drafted a proposed schedule for advertising, bidding, etc. He has overlayed this with the roofing meeting dates.
Craig shares, "I anticipate that this would be a very short construction project. I would allow 3 months for the project from start to closeout, but the work on site would be one month or less. This schedule allows for seeding and straw (or if you prefer sod installation in October/November which is a good time of year for seeding). Sod will cost more than grass, but reduces mud and silt runoff (reduces tracking by students) and may be your preferred option. We can easily write this as an alternate so you can decide if you want the sod based upon actual cost."
Proposed Schedule for sidewalk bidding:
3 Jun – Board Approval to advertise
10 June – Anchorage Roof progress mtg 9:00am
2 Jul advertised and out to bid (21 day advertisement)
9 Jul – Pre-Bid meeting 2:30pm
9 Jul – Anchorage Roof progress meeting 3:30pm
15 Jul – final addendum deadline to Lynn
19 July Anchorage Roof site visit
22 Jul = Bid opening at Board office 2:30pm
22 Jul – roof site visit
29 Jul - Board Meeting - Approve Bids at
6 Aug – possible contract signing 2:30 pm
6 Aug – Anchorage Roof Progress Meeting 3:30pm
Recommendation:
Accept Construction Documents for BG 26-299 for the Accessible Sidewalk and authorize permission to advertise for bids
| b. APPROVAL - G. Scott & Associates, Architect PLC Continued Services | |
Rationale:
Anchorage Independent School District is seeking to engage G. Scott & Associates, Architects, to provide continued architectural services in support of developing initial scopes and BG-1s for Board consideration for upcoming facility projects, including: exterior paint (Julius Schnurr & Sons is scheduled to assess E.F.I.S. repair that would be needed prior to painting on June 9th at 1:00pm; painting estimates for reference only are attached), restroom renovations, school administrative office renovations, southeast wing updates, and staff lounge renovations. To do so, the district requests an addendum to the existing contract, allowing the firm to bill at the hourly rate established in the approved 2024 agreement. This preliminary work is expected to occur throughout 2026 and in conjunction with the work of Amanda Jacobs Design to be prepared for the 2027 APTA auction and 2027 and beyond summer projects. We would also want to continue his facility assessment process by seeking his input on our 5-10 Year Maintenance & Renovation Plan in 2026 and beyond.
This addendum ensures continuity of service, leverages the firm’s existing knowledge of the facility, and allows the district to move forward efficiently without the need to initiate a new procurement process.
Recommendation:
Authorize Superintendent Six to execute a B101 Contract Addendum with G. Scott & Associates, Architects, for continued work on facility updates at the hourly rate defined in the 2024 contract.
| 5. Staff & Special Reports | |
| A. Superintendent's Report | Sharla Six |
Update since our 5.21.26 Meeting:
- APTA Donation to cover the cost of registration for the AASA National Superintendent Certification training. Additionally, the reimbursement for superintendent training costs this year. As always, we are very appreciative of the investment APTA makes in ongoing professional learning for our faculty and staff each year. Yesterday, they made us aware of an additional $4,000 to go towards a new Field Hockey goal and facemasks.
- STEM Teacher and Special Projects Coordinator positions were marked as TBD in the allocation. At this meeting, we will create both positions. I have removed the posting I mistakenly authorized.
- Submission of a Rehabilitation Tax Credit application
| |
| I. Facilities Report | |
Updates:
- Deep Clean of Kitchen
- Boiler systems have been shut down.
- Deep Clean of Auditorium prior to stage floor painting - will not take place until after roofing is completed near that area
- Driveway and Entry Lights - once other projects are underway will direct attention to this issue and get resolution by the end of June.

| II. Personnel Report | |
Rationale:
All certified and classified contracts for the 2026-2027 school year were sent, signed, and housed in PowerSchool.
This should serve as notification to the Board that I have taken the following personnel actions:

- Note: there are 2 Elementary School Teacher positions posted, 3 Instructional Assistant positions posted
| |
| III. Professional Development / Conference Schedule | Sharla Six |
| IV. Review of Superintendent's Itemized Travel Reimbursement Request | Sharla Six |
Rationale:
Per Board Policy 03.125, prior to granting approval for payment, the Board shall review itemized reimbursement requests for the Superintendent’s travel expenses in an open Board meeting. This item does not require consideration of approval as the Board will have the opportunity under the approval of vouchers to consider whether to approve the request for reimbursement.
Recommendation:
Superintendent Six does not have any travel reimbursement to report.

| IV. APPROVAL - STEP Management Information Base 12-Month Contract | |
Rationale:
The Board previously approved a six-month contract with STEP Management Information for MIB services. After District Technology Director Jack Bosley met with the company and reviewed the District’s needs, it was determined that this is an ongoing service that will be needed throughout the year and in future years.
I am requesting approval at twelve-month contract in the amount of $4,745.00 effective May 1,2026. This amount reflects the annualized cost of the previously approved six-month contract of $2,554.50 and an adjustment based on projected enrollment for SY 2026-27
This contract will be paid out of General Fund 1 Budget Line Item - 0101100 073404 Tech - Software
Recommendation:
Approve a twelve-month contract with STEP Management Information for MIB services in the amount of $4,745.00 effective May 1, 2026. Administration further requests approval to disburse payment to STEP following this meeting so payment does not have to wait until after the July 29th Board Meeting voucher approval.
| V. APPROVAL - New Chromebooks for incoming 6th Grade | |
Rationale:
Attached is quote from CDW-G for 71 chromebooks for the approximately 61 incoming 6th graders and ten (10) additional to help fill out any classroom chromebooks that may be needed. This quote was initially gathered by previous District Technology Director Lee Collard and Dir. Bosley concurs this matches our current need. We are requesting that funds be re-allocated to cover the cost of this purchase. We request that the $40,856.95 be paid from the following budget accounts:
- $9,000 from 0101100 073406 Tech - Replacement
- $5,000 from 0101100 0610 Tech - General Supplies
- $4,500 from 0101100 073402 Tech - Repair
- $500 from 0101100 0580 Tech - Travel/PD
- $9,000 from 0101100 073408 BenQ - Maintenance
- $3,000 from 0101100 073405 Tech - Infrastructure
- $9,856.95 from 0101100 0130 Tech Classified Regular Salaries (covered by savings on salaries between District Technology Director)
- Total $40,856.95
Recommendation:
Approve re-allocation of funds within the District Technology Budget to apply to the expense of chromebooks for the incoming 6th graders.
| VI. APPROVAL - 2026-2027 Allocations Update | |
Please approve updating the 2026-27 Allocations as follows:
Special Projects Coordinator - 25 days
STEM Teacher - up to 50 days
Allocations as approved on 03/18/2026:

| VII. APPROVAL - Cyber Security Insurance Policy | |
Rationale:
Per discussions with Bluegrass Risk Management, they are going to be listed as the Agent of Record on our continuing Cyber Security Policy. Renewal information is attached and the premium amount is staying the same as it has been for the past three years.
Recommendation:
Approve continued renewal of Cyber Security Insurance Policy with Houston Casualty Company. Please note this is the parent company for our previous policy. This policy will be housed under Synergy rather than Tokio Marine. Administration further requests approval to disburse payment to following this meeting so payment does not have to wait until after the July 29th Board Meeting voucher approval.
| B. APPROVAL OF TENTATIVE BUDGET | |
| I. Fund 360 (Building Fund) | |
| C. APPROVAL - Surplus | |
Rationale:
As part of the Closing Day checklist process, teachers reviewed classrooms and identified damaged, outdated, obsolete, and unusable materials and/or furniture for surplus disposal. Staff members were encouraged to redistribute any usable instructional materials, including workbooks and classroom resources in workable condition, to students for continued educational use and summer preparation. Therefore, the items being recommended for surplus are materials and furnishings that are no longer usable or needed by the District.
To properly dispose of these items, the Board must first declare them as surplus property. If approved, the District will advertise the items for sale through sealed bids and/or a silent auction process. Items will be grouped and sold in lots to the highest bidder. Any remaining unsold items may be donated to other schools or nonprofit organizations in accordance with Board policy and applicable procedures.
Surplus
Please note that the final list and pictures will be completed at the end of closing day 06/03/2026 and changes to this spreadsheet will be made up until that point.
Recommendation:
Approve the attached list of materials and furnishings as surplus property and authorize the Superintendent or designee to dispose of the items in accordance with Board policy and applicable procedures.

This work will be paid from the following FY26 budget account codes:
- 0011087 0439G R&M Painting $25,000
- 0011087 0439K R&M Electrical $13,000

Change orders, if needed based on found conditions, will be brought to the board for prior approval.
| F. APPROVAL - Large Gym Exterior Repair & Painting | |
Julius Schnurr & Sons, Inc. & Whitehouse Painting have reviewed the site where repair and painting are needed outside the large gym due to damage from lacrosse balls.
The E.F.I.S. repair will occur first and then Whitehouse will paint the section above the copper using the same scaffolding to avoid charges for an additional lift to access the site.
Schnurr has tentatively scheduled this work for early July.
There are adequate funds in the FY26 budget to cover the painting cost:
- 0011087 0439G R&M Painting $6,292.60
The E.F.I.S. repair work will be paid from the following FY26 budget account code:
- 0011075 0343 Legal Fees $15,220

| G. APPROVAL - Parking Lot Repairs & Maintenance | |
Repairs to the back parking lot drain cover systems (2) are required as determined by the structural engineer earlier this school year.
Representatives from S&M Precast, AEP Construction, and Louisville Paving met onsite on June 2, 2026. The plan for completion of this project prior to the start of the school year was determined as:
S&M Precast to supply initial drawing prepared by their in-house engineer by 06/12/26.
This drawing will go to G. Scott's structural engineer for review and approval to be completed by 06/19/26.
Production of concrete forms through 07/17/26.
Installation to begin by 07/20/26 and is expected to take 5 days.
Paving repair will take 2-3 days.
Final completion prior to 08/12/26.
While some unknowns exist as to the extent of pavement repair that will be required after the concrete drains are set in place, this estimate was provided on 06/03/26:
S&M Pre-cast Material - With the convo about a KYTC weight Rating they would put that at $25K to be safe but this is pending what they come back with on the quote they provide me.
Excavation, removal of existing lid assemblies, jackhammering, haul off, installation of new lids, re-grout frame, backfill and apron. - $38K
Asphalt Damage Repair - Mill Driveline back to catch basins ~ 2.5", install new surface asphalt - $34K
Structural Engineer Review $500
Anticipated total budget: $100,500
We are requesting a prior approval of up to $100,500 to cover the full scope of the work from the structural engineer, S&M Precast, AEP Construction and Louisville Paving. This approval will authorize the Superintendent and Board Chair to engage with the vendors for the scope of work defined here within the established not-to-exceed amount and for work to occur between now and the next scheduled board meeting. If substantial changes to the scope of the repair are found to be needed, these would be brought back to the board for prior approval. No one vendor is expected to exceed $40,000 of cost.
This cost of this work will be covered by the FY26 budget taken from the following codes:
- 0011087 0431 HVAC Replacements $30,000.00
- 0011087 0431A HVAC Repair $30,000.00
- Insurance reimbursement from Spring Break Water Fountain Claim $40,500.00
This will leave remaining funds in the HVAC account codes if any unexpected HVAC issues arise in June.
