2. AISD Board Strategic Planning
3. Items for Action
A. APPROVAL - Expenditures
I. Regular Monthly Expenditures
B. APPROVAL - BG #25-419 Innovation Lab Change Order

Rationale:

Per G. Scott & Associates, Architects PLC...

We requested pricing to add power at the tall cabinets in the Innovation Lab, to allow tools and batteries to be charged inside the cabinet. This scope includes $2,100 to add perforated metal vent panels to the cabinet and $4,440 to add 2 new 20-amp feeds and multiple receptacles inside these two cabinets. Total $6,540.00.

Sample Board Actions:

Move to accept/reject proposal from Derek Engineering to add power and ventilation to tall cabinets in the Innovation Lab at a cost of $6,540 and to pay for this with available contingency funds.

C. APPROVAL - Surplus

Rationale:

We have been collecting old series of Amplify and other outdated instructional materials that are no longer in use and all of these items are currently being stored in room 123 and at the District Office. We need to clear out Room 123 for Mr. Jones during the construction phase of the Innovation Lab.  Additionally, we need to surplus 65 calculators that are obsolete for testing purposes.

Below is a breakdown of the materials:

  • Amplify 2nd Edition materials
  • Assorted trade books (from classroom libraries - no longer relevant/engaging and taking out of rotation)
  • Assorted Big Books (no longer used due to adoption of Amplify)
  • 65 calculators

If the Board approves declaring textbooks and supplementary materials as surplus we will advertise the items for sale and then donate or dispose of any items which are not purchased.  We have a company that will purchase some of our outdated textbooks.  They will additionally come and pick-up the items at no cost to the district.  In the past we have not been able to find a bidder for our outdated textbooks.

Recommendation:

I recommend that the Board declare all calculators, outdated textbooks and supplementary materials surplus property and authorize the Superintendent to sell/dispose of those items.

Prior to allowing purchase or removal of any of the books, admin will be going through all of the stacks to ensure that currently used or current materials were not accidentally included in the discard stacks.

D. APPROVAL - National School Lunch Program

Rationale:

This document is a mutual agreement between KDE and AISD to participate in the National School Lunch Program.

Recommendation:

Approve Superintendent to enter into contract with KDE to participate in the National School Lunch Program.

4. Adjournment
