3. BCPS Life Safety Upgrades: CO 1 Substantial Completion Extension | |
Per CMTA Mechanical Engineer - Fire and Intercom project substantial completion is before Summer 2025. Due to interface requirements with Audio Enhancement Intercom system coop agreement, the supporting electrical contractor has requested a time extension to the contract to utilize the summer to remove abandoned systems due to Audio Enhancement replacement. | |
4. BEHS Fine Arts- CO 17 - Miscellaneous Framing and Insulation Revisions | Danny Clemens |
Miscellaneous framing and insulation changes have been made to account for window placements and finishing of exposed steel structure in areas open to roof structure. Also- insulation has been added at existing walls to enhance overall envelope thermal performance. Costs are outlined in the following Change Order Requests (CORs)
COR25- Air Barrier and Spray Foam Insulation at Existing Gym- Closed cell insulation is being added for enhanced thermal performance at existing walls where EFIS finish was removed at exterior gym walls.
COR 26- Added framing a soffit was added along the clerestory wall at the cafeteria commons due to an issue where steel would have obstructed the installation of gypsum wall board finished at the roof above windows. Addition spray foam insulation was added to enhance thermal performance of the wall.
COR 27- Walls were added at the Digital Media space to enhance sound isolation. Existing CMU walls did not extend up to the roof deck that was discovered after the ceilings were removed. Also, an existing roof leader was found after wall demolition that required a framed chase in the preschool restroom area. | |

COR 06- BEHS City Review Civil Revisions-$1,231.00- The City of Mt. Washington required site revisions for issuance of permit. This included increasing the size of storm piping and adding sewer clean outs.
COR 12- RFP-4 BEHS Site Revisions- $81,580.00- Work was revised to account to unforeseen conditions, one being the condition of the storm pipe between the baseball and football fields, costs include the full replacement of the 30 inch pipe. Also, ground water was observed at the baseball outfield that required the addition of a French drain to maintain proper drainage under the turf.

8. Phase II Athletics- Baseball /Softball Fields (Bid Package No1) CO 5 | Danny Clemens |
Additional site work is needed at North Bullitt's Campus to address storm line elevations and grading. The General and Site Contractor presented the design team with several requests for information that resulted in redesign of areas of the site. As a result, some work was able to be omitted, including the sewage ejector pump and areas of road/parking curbing that resulted in credits. In other areas, additional grading was needed to address an excess of topsoil and yield positive drainage to enlarged detention basins. Work on site stopped while redesign of site scope was complete, thus, work already completed can remain as installed. An itemized breakout of added and reduced costs in included in COR-14. Also included in this change order is a site demolition cost request. Additional demolition and salvage of scoreboards and commemorative bricks were requested by the sport teams. Teams will reimburse the District for those costs as determined by BCPS Leadership. An intemized breakout of added salvage costs in included in the COR-08. | |

Calhoun has prepared a request to transfer the site contractor's (JR Contracting) costs from the Field House project to the Softball Project. This affects Calhoun's monthly billing. We have had another family this year request Maxim Healthcare Services at another school, so I would like to recommend that we approve all BCPS schools to participate in this MOU for this year to cover future requests that may include another school.
We submitted a MOU on this last year for Old Mill and I would like to request the Board to approve a MOU for all BCPS schools to receive services from Maxim Healthcare Services as may be needed by other students at some of out other schools.
Submitted is a Memorandum of Understanding with Maxim Healthcare Services. Maxim shall be responsible for billing student's insurance for the nursing care provided under this agreement. BCPS will not be responsible for any payment or nonpayment to Maxim under this Agreement and it will be for all our schools in BCPS. | |

7. Shortened School Day Requests | Troy Kolb |
The following information summarizes student cases for which the parents and medical professionals have
requested a modified attendance schedule for these students with disabilities. The students are identified by number in order to maintain confidentiality. There is documentation of medical necessity for the modified schedules, and the modified schedules have been recommended for approval by the Admissions and Release Committees (ARCs). Full documentation is on file in the office of Director of Special Education.

This student is being treated for Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD (combined type). An ARC meeting was held on
8/16/24, during which the recommendation for a shortened school day was approved (Monday through Friday 7:20AM to 10:30AM). A medical statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s mental health needs. The modified schedule will be approved through this school year and will be reviewed at his next ARC meeting.

This student has a diagnosis of Autism. An ARC meeting was held on 8/19/24, during which the recommendation for a shortened school day was approved (Monday through Friday 8:40AM to 12:00 PM). A physician’s statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s mental health and physical needs. The modified schedule will be approved through this school year and
will be reviewed at the next IEP annual review meeting on or before 2/21/25.

This student has multiple diagnoses, including Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Separation Anxiety Disorder. An ARC was held on 9/10/24, during which the recommendation for a shortened school day was approved (Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 12:00PM). A medical statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s mental health needs. The modified schedule will be approved through the 24-25 school year and until the student’s next IEP annual review date, on or before 9/09/25.

This high school student has a 504 Plan for accommodations resulting from diagnoses of Major Depressive
Disorder, Social Phobia, and Panic Disorder. These conditions significantly impact their ability to maintain a full day school schedule. The 504 team met on 9/11/24 to review, discuss, and approve the request for a shortened school day schedule. Beginning on 9/16/24, this student will attend school from 7:20AM to 12:10PM, Monday through Friday. This will be approved for the remainder of the 2014-2025 school year.

This student is currently in the evaluation process for eligibility for special education services in the state of
Kentucky. They enrolled in BCPS with an out of state IEP, that includes the provision for a shortened school day (Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 11:30AM). The ARC convened on 8/27/24 to discuss the evaluation needs of the student and to review the shortened school provision. The committee developed and approved a plan to transition the student toward a longer school day throughout the fall as the student’s progress allowed. The ARC has approved a shortened school day for this student (Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 12:15PM) and will reconvene as necessary to adjust the student’s schedule as needed.

This student has a diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and has a status of post complete atrio-ventricular canal repair, resulting in poor stamina; as well as Atlantoaxial Instability which limits his physical activity due to an increased risk for spinal compression and paralysis. According to the submitted physician’s statement, this student also suffers from sleep apnea and circadian shift work disorder An ARC was held on 8/23/24, during which the recommendation for a shortened school day was approved (Monday through Friday, 12:30PM to 3:30PM). The physician’s statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s medical needs. The modified schedule will be approved through the 2024-2025 school year.

This student is receiving treatment for a diagnosed cardiac condition, resulting in significant fatigue present during the afternoon hours while at school. An ARC was held on 10/4/24, during which a recommendation for a shortened school day schedule was approved (Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 12:00PM). A physician’s statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s medical needs. The modified schedule will be approved through the 2024-2025 school year.

This student has diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Language Disorder which manifest in the form of maladaptive behaviors while the school day progresses. An ARC was held on 10/14/24, during which a recommendation for a shortened school day schedule was approved (Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 12:30PM). A physician’s statement was submitted requesting this accommodation for the student’s medical and mental health needs. The modified schedule will be approved through the 2024-2025 school year. | |

As of July 25, 2022, the Superintendent will oversee all curriculum, textbooks, instructional materials, and student support services per changes in Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS 160.345). The curriculum in each school shall be designed to achieve student capacities established by KRS 158.645 and the school goals established by KRS 158.6451. The curriculum shall comply with all applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.
In any school administered under the provisions of KRS 160.345, the Superintendent shall determine which curriculum, textbooks, instructional materials, and student support services shall be provided in the school after consulting with the Board, the Principal, and the school council and after a reasonable public review and response period for all stakeholders. 11. KETS Offer of Assistance | Kevin Fugate |
We've received our first KETS Offer of FY25. The first offer is for $135,292 which divides up to almost $12 per student. Once we get the final offer of assistance this will total about $21 per student. The final total should be almost $250,000 which the district matches each year. I ask that we preemptively approve all offers now which will eliminate the need for further approval of the remaining offers thus reducing the time to get the amount in our accounts. We typically choose to escrow the amount for up to three years. Our department will continue to use these funds to provide student and teacher devices, data center hardware, networking hardware, and other instructional-related technologies. | |

Stephen Hawkins with Grand Lodge of KY, has requested the use of the auditorium at Bullitt Central on April 5, 2025 from 9:30am-12:30pm to host their District Meeting. A copy of insurance in included. I recommend they be able to use the auditorium for their District Meeting. | |

1. Overdale Elementary School Little Library | Danny Clemens |
Overdale Elementary's first-grade students, teachers, and Family Resource Coordinator are requesting a "Little Mustang Library" book box on Overdale school grounds. This initiative is a part of their Project Based Learning about neighborhoods and community resources. Students/staff will partner with the Maryville/Overdale Family Resource Coordinator and Mr. Frank Fugate for this project. The first-grade students and teachers will create building plans and ideas. Mr. Fugate will provide installation, and the FRC will assist in promoting the Little Mustang Library by sending out information about the library and providing books as needed. The projected location of the pantry would be near the school's front parking lot, but the school sign and sidewalk. Upkeep of the Little Mustang Library's maintenance would be provided by the FRC and community partners. Approval of this library would not only be an exciting opportunity for Overdale's first grade PBL, but it would also help foster their sense of responsibility and community, as well as promote literacy and family connection by providing free books to the local community so that children may engage in reading with their parents or guardians with no financial burden. | |

2. Request for BCPS BOE to approve resolution to recognize November as National Homeless Youth Awareness Month | Tiffany Reynolds |
As part of an effort to raise awareness in our community, we would like to request that the BCPS Board of Education adopt the attached resolution in recognition of November as National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. We believe this can have a positive impact on our families and students that may be facing the hardships in our community and would like to increase awareness of these issues in our community in order to provide support and resources to them as needed.
Mrs. Tiffany Reynolds serves as our McKinney-vento Liasion for BCPS and she and her team work extremely hard to meet the needs of our students impacted by homelessness. It is in collaboration with her that I bring this request to you for consideration. I have included her memo to me and a copy of the resolution for you and the Board of Education to consider approving at the October 28th Board Meeting.
