After demolition had commenced at new window openings in existing walls, it was determined additional metal trim would be required to improve the jamb appearances at the enlarged classroom windows.  Metal trim matching the window frames is being added at all Window types "A".  Also, a new brick is still being added to the Enlarged windows at the Art room. In addition to improvements at exterior windows, the interior glass storefront systems sills are being raised from 2-inches high to 4-inches high to raise the glazing along the floor line.  This incurred additional materials costs.  See COR's 7 and 8 for cost break-outs. 

Employment records for both the certified and classified personnel for the period of October 2023 through November 2023 are submitted for the Board’s information and inclusion in the minutes of this meeting.

This is a request for Board approval of the attached Memorandum of Agreement between Bullitt County Public Schools and Phoenix Preferred Care for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.  This agreement outlines the roles of the agency staff and Bullitt County Public Schools in providing services for students.  The purpose of this agreement is to enhance students' educational experiences through mental health support.  The Bullitt County Public School Director of Sale Schools and the Project Director of the AWARE II Grant will coordinate efforts and work with the outside agency's point of contact to maximize student success aligned with the terms of the agreement.  This agreement has been reviewed by Buckman, Farris and Mill's legal counsel.

The Shepherdsville Elementary FRC is partnering with Kentucky Eye Care to create a vision screening program for Shepherdsville Elementary Students.  Mirroring a former vision screening service that is no longer, a new program "Vision for Learning" will provide free vision screenings, ophthalmology assessments if needed, and provide free glasses, if needed for students without vision insurance.  Kentucky Eye Care will provide screening results that the FRC will distribute to parents.  The screenings will be offered to all Shepherdsville Elementary students focusing heavily on the 136 students that have not completed a vision screening (although required by the district) during their years at SES.  Shepherdsville Elementary has an enrollment of 544 students and a 136 of these students (25% of our total enrollment K-5th) have not submitted a vision screening report.  Fourteen students do not have insurance of any kind, 42 of those without vision screening have medicaid managed care insurance and 80 of those without vision documentation have private insurance, but it is not yet determined if this included vision care.  In addition, it has been noted that following recent student assessment, 79.1% of our students population (K-5th) scored Novice or Apprentice, thereby indicating that 79.1% of our students are performing below grade level.  I would like to rule out vision issues as a possible determinant.  

Parent permission will be required to participate.  Blank permission forms will be attached to this memo. 

Screenings will be offered to all SES students K-5th, with an extra focus on the 136 without vision screening documents on file.  This program will provide a mobile assessment located at Shepherdsville Elementary.  

All screening and vision test subject to permission forms/ HIPPA/vision office forms, and BCPS is released from all liability.  Date of event 2023/2024, will be determined pending Board approval. 

The bid for the elementary and middle school yearbooks for the fiscal year 2024 was approved at the September 2023 board meeting.

Provided is information that summarizes cases for which parents  and medical professionals have requested a modified attendance schedule for students with disabilities. The students are identified by number in order to maintain confidentiality: There is documentation of medical necessity for the modified schedule and the modified schedule has been recommended for approval by the Admissions and Release Committee (ARC). Full documentation is on file in the office of the Director of Special Education.

Bullitt County Public Schools partners with The Alliance for a Healthier Generation (AHG) as part of a Wellness Initiative to help create and sustain healthier school environments.  In addition to the Healthy School Assessment, the AHG is using an additional index called the RISE index to help measure the effectiveness of creating such environments; the RISE Index is The Resilience in School Environments (RISE) Initiative which empowers schools to create safe and supportive learning environments by developing policies and practices that improve the social-emotional health of all students and staff. A key benefit in this collaboration is the opportunity to use the Alliance's assessments tools as an addition to the Nutrition and Physical Activity Report in the evaluation and recommendation relating to KRS 158.856 and to the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010.

Included is the 2022-2023 Nutrition and Physical Activity Report, along with the assessment results from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.  The Nutrition & Physical Activity Report is available for review and is open for public comment.  No action is required at this time.

Eastside Middle School is requesting approval to add urinal dividers in the boys restrooms.  This will help towards providing privacy amongst all stakeholders during usage.  Funding for this will be taken from designated Facility Usage (254.00 dollars) and Fund 22 (1089.00 dollars).
