Board Chair Ann Meyer called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.

• HHS Color Guard was named best auxiliary group at a recent competition


• HMS Cheer team won regional competition


• Girls and Boys Cross Country placed 4th & 7th in State


• Football competed in the 2nd game of the playoffs


• FTIS is Highest Ranked K-12 District for KSA


• Homecoming Parade back after decades-long absence


• MES had a successful Santa House 


• Woodfill's Blue Ribbon School Celebration is 11/18/2022


• The Holiday Walk is 12/4/2022


• Check district calendar for upcoming holiday concerts, etc.

Mr. Darnell nominated the FCCLA program to receive the Tradition of Excellence Award.

The award was presented to FCS teacher and FCCLA sponsor Mrs. Ahren Wagner, and FCCLA student representatives Kathleen Price and Addy Wagner, in recognition of FCCLA providing and encouraging outstanding service and leadership opportunities to the students of Fort Thomas Independent Schools.

• Stillwell Awards

KDE’s Office of Educational Technology annually presents Stillwell Awards for those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in Educational Technology. For the 2020-2022 years, Stillwell Awards are being presented to the 2,400 educators across the Commonwealth who played pivotal roles supporting educational technology during the pandemic, 14 of those individuals were key parts of FTIS’s support during those two years

Woodfill Elementary 5th-grade students presented on the 100 Years project. Students presenting were:

Students shared their projects on the history of Woodfill Elementary, one using Minecraft to show the school cafeteria, and another creating a video about Samuel Woodfill.

There were no speakers for the forum.

Jerry Wissman shared that the parking lot has been completed. Before closing this project we will make sure drainage from rain/snow is not an issue.

• Michels Pay App #2 - Fieldhouse Parking Lot

Order #2373 - Motion Passed:  : Approval of Pay Application #2 from Paul Michels & Sons in the amount of $118,509.50 for the Johnson Elementary Replacement-Fieldhouse Parking Lot Project passed with a motion by Mrs. Lisa Duckworth and a second by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein.

• Surplus Property Bid Information

Order #2374 - Motion Passed:  Approval to declare the attached itemized list of materials as surplus property passed with a motion by Mr. Jeff Beach and a second by Mrs. Lisa Duckworth.

Order #2375 - Motion Passed:  Approval of the Request for Bids for Surplus Property passed with a motion by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein and a second by Mr. Jeff Beach.

Each year, the SFCC extends a KETS offer of assistance to school districts. To accept this offer of assistance, it must be matched equally by the Board of Education. 

• KETS 1st Offer of Assistance

Order #2376 - Motion Passed:  Approval to accept and match the KETS First Offer of Assistance in the amount of $34,777.00 passed with a motion by Mrs. Lisa Duckworth and a second by Mrs. Julie Kuhnhein.

• Brigance Screening Board Report 2022 v2

Jamee Flaherty presented data from the Brigance Screening showing that 83% of our kindergarteners are ready to begin school.

• KSA Report

Keith Faust presented and reviewed the 2022 State Accountability Assessment report, noting that all five of our schools are in highest rating level of "Blue".

• CDIP Report

Keith Faust shared and reviewed information regarding the Phase II components of the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan which include Needs Assessment for District, District Assurances, and the District Safety Report.
