Rationale

Johnson Elementary 4th-grade students in Mrs. Jill Booth's class gave a presentation about why kindness is important and explaining their individual examples of extending kindness to others in the Pillars and Pathways program Kindness Challenge.

I.C. Community Forum

Six parents and three students addressed the Board to voice their thanks and appreciation of the decision to continue the requirement of masking for all students/staff/visitors.


One parent requested that the Board consider removing the mask requirement and giving the decision of masking to parents.


Community member Elizabeth Allegrini addressed the Board with comments regarding gates at Tower Park, the KDE vaccine incentive program, community conversations, and alternative spaces for students during lunch.


Parent Jade Stanford addressed the Board with her concerns regarding books accessible to elementary students on a school reading app.


FTEA president Kelly Pratt-Booth addressed the Board to recognize three teachers (one from each level - elementary, middle, high) who were recognized by their FTEA colleagues for their outstanding efforts. The teachers are: Ann Snider, (elementary); Scott Pahren, (middle); and Jason Gay, (high).

II.D. 2021-22 Continuous Improvement Diagnostic

The comprehensive school and district improvement plan process is outlined in 703 KAR 5:225. The requirements included in the administrative regulation are key components of the continuous improvement process in Kentucky and ultimately fulfillment of school, district, and state goals under the Kentucky State Plan as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The Continuous Improvement Diagnostic documents a commitment by the Superintendent that the district will implement a continuous improvement processes with fidelity to support student achievement and student growth and to eliminate achievement gaps among groups of students.

Bill Bradford presented information about Assessment and Accountability, sharing that beginning this year, K-PREP has been replaced by the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA).


Additionally, assessment results for 2020-21 will be available to present and review at our October meeting.
