13th Annual Federal and State Law Update Conference

“Schoolhouses rock!”

The 13th Annual Federal and State Law Update is a one-day conference showcasing school district staff and students, as well as KSBA and KCSS staff, in a district high school setting. Our featured school district presenters will walk you through their vision and efforts to improve school safety through district-initiated action. This presentation includes a tour of the host school’s safety features and information from students and staff on their shared experiences and efforts to create a safe and successful learning environment.

KSBA’s knowledgeable attorneys and staff will summarize the Kentucky General Assembly’s 2019 Regular Session, will share information on district policy and procedure updates, and will offer insights on current Open Meetings Act interpretations and federal law happenings.

In addition, KSBA, Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS), and the the new state school security marshal will present in-depth information on this year’s school safety bill, Senate Bill 1 (2019), and the school security risk assessments.

This conference is open to school board members, district administrators, and board attorneys. Board Member Credit has been approved, and board member attendees can earn up to 7.25 hours of elective board training credit. EILA training credit for administrators has been approved. Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia CLE approval has been secured. Conference attendees will be provided catered continental breakfast, buffet lunch, and afternoon refreshments.
