XXVI. Ohio County Water District
Discussion

Speech from David Johnston, Judge Executive: This afternoon I am making the water board appointments that would be done normally in January. The magistrates in the two districts want me to re-appoint the current members and I am about to do that. I am very disappointed by some recent actions of the board. This was to use grant money to extend service. When public utilities were brought to our rural communities it was such a blessing to have electricity, phone and then water. If each individual road had been required to show a profit for the service immediately much of the county would be without these services. The mission of our water district when established was to provide services to the rural areas of the county. Fiscal Court through different means has contributed much of the water lines now in existence. We currently are making payments on the new water plant. Its cost to the Fiscal Court was over two and a half million dollars.
