2011 Working With Difficult Students-Louisville, KY
Trainers will give an overview of the student group and some of the specific issues that students bring to the table. They will explore family, peer groups, and academic influences. Prevention will be looked at by using positive behavior strategies and relationship building with special students. Intervention strategies with disruptive behaviors will be introduced starting with minor misbehaviors and moving up to heated confrontations. Emergency interventions will be discussed but physical strategies will not be taught. The session will conclude with a resolution model and intervention protocols (documentation, medical/mental health assessments) and staff debriefing.
